Yet another review for a customer who is being ignored. My lovely watch was left with Matt in November and part payment made up front, we knew it was going to take a long time but started to worry a little while ago that we hadn't heard anything, so tried to contact him. We've had no response to emails, texts, whatsapps, calls, etc and the shop is closed and it looks permanent. I'm at a loss as to what to do - looks like it's going to be a legal issue. Also looks like he has been using subcontractors to do all the work, whereas he gave us the impression that it was all his own work. I don't really care about the repair anymore, I just want my watch back.

We took a couple of vintage watches for estimate of repair nearly six months ago. Matt promised to get back to us, however, he has never been in touch. He will not return calls, texts or emails so we took the opportunity for a visit to Wickham. The shop was all boarded up and it looks like they are not trading anymore, unless Matthew Peter Veal is trading from his other premises in 9 Highfield Court Winchester Road Southampton SO32 1PJ. We feel very let down and are considering the next step - informing the Police.

We have tried on multiple occasions to make contact with Matt regarding my wife’s rings that he has in for work to be done and have been ghosted for the last month. These are of highly sentimental value but Matt doesn’t seem to care in the slightest. My wife paid in advance for the work and now is heartbroken that he has left her in this situation. It seems he has outsourced work to others and is now robbing Peter to pay Paul, using customer’s items and payments to cover his own debt. We have repeatedly asked him via all lines of communication to advise us of where my wife’s items are, I would pay whoever and whatever just to get my wife’s rings back, but even giving Matt this option he is flatly refusing to respond, causing unnecessary upset. The shop is closed up and there is no response at his registered address. We are now having to contact the police, and arrange debt recovery to have any hope of seeing my wife’s property returned. We placed the rings into Big foot repairs in good faith but have now been left as many other have to in silence. Matt if you are reading this do the decent thing and tell us where our property is. I guess the next step is to hope to recover items as a creditor when the company folds.

If I could give less than 1 star I would right now. This company used to be great and I couldn’t fault their work. All that has changed in the last couple of months. The store has been closed for the foreseeable while he works on the backlog. You cannot get ahold of Matt to discuss your work or that you want your property back. Trust me I have tried and he is hiding from everyone right now. As much as he has said in one of his comments that he is responding to all emails and messages, funny how all of mine have gone unanswered. I have called up begging for him to return my rings which hold huge sentimental value. He has even been paid for the work and said a ring is ready to collect but will not arrange with me as to when I can pick it up. I have called, emailed, text and written a letter to ask for my property back, even if the work is not finished. All communication is met with silence. The stress and uncertainty is so upsetting as these rings are from my gran who sadly died earlier this year. This company has won a local award for customer service - right now there is none of that. I put my faith and precious property in the hands of someone I thought I could trust. How wrong it would appear I was. When you have paid several hundred pounds for work to be done and there has been absolutely no communication since a text message on 15th July, what does this say? Matt if you are reading this please please respond to my pleas to return my jewellery. All I want is to have my property returned. I don’t care if the work isn’t done, just give them back. This is a message that I am sure is echoed by many others who are in the same position as me. Going no contact with everyone is damaging your reputation and that of your business. A simple explanation and reassurance could have avoided this. Right now you are holding so many people’s property and with no contact to arrange return, that is a crime. We all want our property back.

Matt serviced and carried out some simple but necessary remedial work on my Longine Graphite watch... picture attached. He also repaired, cleaned and polished my prized gold watch, circa 1920s. The attached picture doesn't do it justice. He has now opened his small shop/workshop in Warwick Lane precinct, Wickham. He also has items, like watch straps for sale and offers battery fitting if needed. If you are in the area, drop him off your favourite timepieces, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Matt was extremely professional and went out of his way to pick up, repair and drop off my son's watch. His price was very reasonable and supplied certification for pressure testing and a 12 month warranty. I will definitely recommend his services to others. A real nice chap to boot. Thanks.

Had a great experience having my wedding ring resized, cleaned and re-plated. Matt has been absolutely amazing, couldn't recommend him enough. It was a fraction of the price the high street shop would have charged and he was very professional and friendly. Thank you!!

After struggling to find a reputable business to repair the broken glass on my watch I stumbled upon Bigfoot repairs. Matt was courteous and professional and replaced the glass and pressure tested the watch in 2 days, even though he had to order the part. Picking up and returning my watch was a bonus. I'm glad to have found someone local I trust for watch and jewelry repairs in the future. Cheers Matt!

Fantastic experience from collection to return. Matt repaired and serviced my wife’s Rolex and returned it looking like new just 5 weeks later. Thankfully, I won’t ever again have to use main dealers with their exorbitant charges and frustratingly long lead times. I would recommend Matt to anybody looking for a quality watch repair/service at a sensible price.
