   I contacted Hudgell Solicitors about a medical negligence claim for my partner, who has been left in extreme pain and serious health decline while in prison. Despite detailed explanations of exposed dental nerves left untreated for over 13 weeks, overdosing due to unbearable agony, and alarming symptoms like vomiting blood and bleeding from his anus, their response focused narrowly on medication issues and dismissed the broader, more serious neglect.They failed to properly address the long delays in hospital treatment and ignored the repeated warnings of life-threatening symptoms. I felt our concerns were not taken seriously and suspect his status as a prisoner played a role. Another firm has now taken on the case with full attention to these issues. Based on my experience, I can’t recommend Hudgell Solicitors.

   5 stars for Hudgells. To anyone thinking do I do this? The answer is yes! Can I stand the stress?. The Hudgells team did everything they possibly could to reduce this. Are Hudgells just number crunchers? The answer is a very firm NO! The service was detailed and personal. Was it financially worth it? The amount before Hudgells was a third of what was finally agreed.

   Before deciding to instruct a solicitor I did research and chose Hudgells due to there excellent communication and timely manner as well as the office location. They did charge a higher no win no fee amount compared with other I had spoken to but I was happy for this expecting better quality work to come at a cost. From first enquiry to signing the paperwork was a matter of hours and for the first few weeks they seemed proficient and good with communication. Sadly this did not continue as time went on. Their promise of answering the same or next working day (a key point in me choosing them) became a rarity and often I would have to chase several times to gets answers. Communication updates also deteriorated and I went from regular monthly emails to not hearing anything unless I contacted them. I was advised at one point that the next step would be a medical review and yet this wasn't carried out for a further 8 months despite having all the medical files and statements from myself. I had to chase this several times advising how stressful the entire situation was and my desire to conclude it but no one even acknowledged that let alone cared. Finally after 13 very stressful months they decided they were no longer interested in helping me pursue my case (and a £10,000 plus bill later) having expressed internally at Hudgells that they weren't sure they could prove causation just 8 weeks into taking my case despite having been positive up until the very last e-mail and sadly making me continue the process for 11 months despite knowing the stress it was causing. Sadly after the good start I couldn't recommend using Hudgells. Perhaps I was unlucky with my allocated solicitor as other clients do not seem to have had the issues I have.
