I’d just finished a 12-hour night shift, running a temperature, absolutely done in and just wanting to get my meds so I could go home and sleep. I arrived at Boots at about 08:20, fully aware the pharmacy opens at 08:30, which was completely fine. What wasn’t fine was that nothing was actually ready for 08:30. The only person who seemed to be working on time was a Black pharmacist who was dealing with the “to take away” prescriptions. She was the only Black pharmacist I could see, and she was the one who stepped in and helped me sort out my fever medication, even though it clearly wasn’t strictly her job at that point. The rest of the pharmacists only started coming into the store around 08:26 or so, and by the time I left at 08:39, nobody else had stepped in to support her or properly open things up. It really came across like: “Let the Black pharmacist start everything off, I’ll sort myself a tea first, it’s raining after all.” I can’t say what was in their heads, but that is exactly how it looked and felt as a patient standing there ill and exhausted. If you advertise that the pharmacy opens at 08:30, then it should actually be functioning at 08:30 – not relying on one Black colleague to carry the whole thing while everyone else strolls in just before opening and takes their time. Whoever that Black pharmacist was, she deserves proper recognition. Her white colleagues should match her time-keeping, work ethic and basic respect for patients who are unwell and relying on them.

I have attended this store recently for urgent help as visitor and pharmacist refused to help me. Very rude and no professionalism at all. I waited for her as she was on break or something and lady asked me to wait till she comes back. After waiting there for half n hour with my young child, that pharmacist told the reception lady she don't have a time today. Absolutely rude pharmacist. I Would recommend everyone there to change there pharmacy.

Today (Saturday 24/6) my sister and I had to source a particular medicine urgently for our Mum. We tried several more local pharmacies with no luck and, in some cases not much help. We came to Newport as a last resort and we’re so amazed at the caring, supportive attitude of pharmacist and all the assistants we dealt with. What a breath of fresh air! Sadly I don’t know any names but todays pharmacist should be given a medal - he was just brilliant.

I remember when boots was about service, I understand it gets busy but when picking up a script for my dad I spoke to two staff at the pharmacy who were abrupt and lacked any customer service or interpersonal skills. After a few years overseas I can believe how much the standards at Boots have deteriorated.

Rude lady behind prescription desk this morning. Telling me it's a week from issue of script. My husband and I both put our script in same time. His was ready after 2 days mine hadn't even been looked at. She left me fuming.

Stuck in a really big queue waiting for my prescription, but it’s ok coz they have free Wi-Fi which actually works so I can leave this review while I’m waiting. A+

I went in to buy some perfume for my wife. The selection was very good. My only complaint would be that you have to ask staff for testers. Understandable I guess. It's been that way since covid, but at this time of year I doubt they could employ enough staff to satisfy the demand on their time

Worst CRM in class. Long lines, no Dropbox - always a hassle with prescriptions. Slow as snails as well as that they open after I'm at work and close before I leave work??? Old world hours
