A good little visitors centre. Toilets are outside and to the rear. There's also a baby changing area. The centre offers hot food and drinks. Some outdoor seating too. Service was fast and efficient. Some good informative boards at the back of the room. Set out and runs smoothly, I cannot fault, and its a pleasure to visit this centre.
The visitor centre has a paid car park which is around £2 per hour. If you are just coming here for a walk then those parking charges feel steep. However they have a decent children's play area which has a trampoline, sand pit and a park. You don't have to pay for those so the parking charges then seem justified. The cafe is average. It has all the basic things you need like drinks, food and ice-cream. The prices are above average and the food is average!
Third largest reservoir. Visitors centre offered good views across the water. Plenty of parking at reasonable charges. Cafe and crazy golf course and plenty of space and benches for pinics.
I was in a canoe helping with safety cover for a swim/run event so didn't see much beyond the car park. There is a visitors centre on the north shore where I was. It was a sunny day and the car park was soon full. A large grassed area had picnic tables beneath trees. There were crowds of people enjoying the day. There was a giant bouncy inflatable for children near the car park. On the south shore is a sailing centre but I'm unaware of any other facilities there. It's a lovely expanse of water with a trail going round it for walkers, runners and cyclists. It's a perfect place for some fresh air.
It's a nice place, but as many others are not that cheap. You can not bring your own boat, but u can hire. Too many birds ship, but this is a nature. Car park cost £2 pH or £12 per day. The coffee shop offers snacks, drinks and etc. A bottle of water is £2, a peace of cake £4 ruffle. The kids got fun, so looking forward to visit it again.
Grafham water is a beautiful place to go for a walk- our wander very super peaceful and relaxing without being overly crowded or noisy. Even when walking past the live games area (laser tag I presume?) It feels like you are on the coast because the lake has a small tide (not sure how?) and there are small coves all around with a small beach area. The visitor centre has a cafe that sells drinks, cake and hot drinks In winter remember to bring your wellies as the trails / paths can be quite muddy Overall a great place to go to, but the parking is not cheap, one hour is fine but the price hikes up after 1 hour to ~£4 for less than 3 hours and more after that. Not sure if there is alternative locations to park on the other side of the reservoir at all ?
I really like Grafham Water, it's a lovely walk with a couple of different types of terrain. It's about 13/14km and if you go on a damp day you get an extra workout by slipping and sliding. Again it's lovely, (I haven't used the cafe) but the sunset over the water is worth seeing.
Stopped to break a drive by having a bike ride - was a good 9 mile ride around the water, gravel tracks with some tarmac. Traffic free and really enjoyable. Didn't use anything other than the car park and the track so can't comment beyond that! Will stop here again.
9-10 mile walk all the way round. No regular seating though, so not for those needing to sit Visited again and walked anticlockwise around the lake, it felt like a completely different place!
It's a good place to visit and to get out of the big city madness. Good for walks taking a couple of hours to walk around the reservoir. Good for family picnic, take your dogs for walk, hang out with friends or even alone if you want to clear your mind. You can rent bikes or take your own. The information centre is on the north side ..you can buy coffee, tea, snacks and get brochures. There are 2 car parks one on the North side the other South side, paid with same price range both offering big car parks. On the North side you can go and have fun in the Rumble Live Action Gaming (really worth trying). On the South side is a nice restaurant view the reservoir view and a sailing club...you can also fish. Here's the closest village to it called Perry.
