“A hidden gem of Brighton. Very first time here and didn't disappoint for choosing this place. Love craft beer and they are the best one for serving craft. Such nice selection of beers from IPA, stout, Sour, neipa etc. Good choice for cask and keg. I like the atmosphere. Not very big place but have plenty of seats. Bar guy was cool. There were board games and such nice green house plants.”
“Lovely Ale house. The London Black is a great pint and serves well. Lovely to be in a pub where people chat as there isn't music and TV. (Apart from the live band nights) Really enjoyed it , will be back and not only for the London black. (Didn't mean to go all dr Seuss).”
“Great selection of beers, nice ambience and friendly staff. Accepts blue light card for 10% off”
“Amazing craft beer spot. Lovely burgers and tacos. Fish tacos, veggie, steak and pork. Outside in the summer is amazing. The beer garden faces due west so you get sun all afternoon. Beer is amazing, I absolutely love this place!”
“Have passed by here for years and not found time to stop. Made time today and had an amazing birthday meal. Curry goat was amazing, my wife's pork chop was enormous, tender and beautifully cooked. My son's steak gorgeous and apparently the cheeseburger was the best my daughter has ever had. Fantastic staff too, so friendly and happy to answer any queries. Great local beers too. Great to see a small local place so busy”
“Great micro pub. Excellent draught ales and lager on tap.Plenty of choice. Reasonably priced. Good atmosphere.”
“Two lovely pizzas and some non-alcoholic beer for me, the wife and baby. A very nice little visit”
“Lovely atmosphere & fantastic service. Food is a bit of a let down but the 2-4-1 on Burgers on Wednesday is 100% worth it Dog friendly too”
“Lovely pub right next to the station. Cracking beer line up including 7 cask pumps. Staff were tops. Perfect stop off pre/post train journey.”
“We went to the green man in Ringmer on Friday night. It was busy as usual but we managed to book a table for the 8 of us. As per usual the service and food was amazing. You get decent size portions for a very reasonable price. It’s one of our go to restaurants. Can never fault the place, always great food and service.”
“I had a most enjoyable meal there with outstanding cooking and charming service. The menu had interesting options for a country pub. I had cheese souffle, a wonderful Sussex Smokie and Bailey's cheesecake and all were perfect and reasonably priced. Thank you for an amazing meal.”
“Fantastic Sunday Roast, 2 for £30 at time of visiting. Sirloin beef was generous and food was served piping hot. The pub itself is reasonably small, but well appointed. Really charming stained glass and wood panelling interior, plus a few tables outside. Friendly staff and locals.”
“Great pub food. Probably the best pub pie I have ever had. Combine that with excellent beer, a lovely atmosphere and a roaring fire, couldn't be better. We will be back!!!”
“Visited today for a drink on our first ever trip to this town. The landlord and landlady were so welcoming providing us with a map and showing us various places thank you”
“Absolutely wonderful place!! The food is veggie and vegan and it is incredible! The loaded fries with bacon jam were so good! The decor is so lovely, it's just such a warm and inviting place! Looking forward to being there on a live music night! :) The supervisor on shift, Kitty, was just so sweet and nice! :) will visit again”
“Had very beautiful time and the bartender was very helpful with choosing my cocktail and cider~highly recommend!”
“A massive thank you for making my 60th last night so special (Nov 2nd, 2024). I've been going to this amazing pub since my 20's and more often in my mid 40's with my daughter and her crew. Good times were had & great memories were made. When asked what I wanted to do for my 60th, JB's was the obvious choice. I wasn't disappointed! This little pub hasn't changed in 40 years! Proper traditional pub. The staff are awesome! The barman even remembered me from 16/17 years ago! It was like 'going home'. Thank you to the staff and everyone, especially the new friends we made, for making my birthday so special! ❤️”
“I stumbled across this gem of a pub in Brighton and couldn't be more impressed. The prices are genuinely some of the best you'll find in the area-great value without compromising on quality. Whether you're after a pint or a cocktail, everything is reasonably priced. What really sets this place apart, though, is the staff. Incredibly friendly, welcoming, and efficient from the moment you walk in. You never feel like you're waiting around, and there's always a warm, relaxed atmosphere. They strike that perfect balance between being professional and making you feel right at home. Highly recommend for a casual drink, a night out with friends, or even just a laidback afternoon. Will definitely be back!”
“Went for the Christmas party night, beautiful decorations, very festive!! Good choice of food, decent portion size, good service, reasonably priced drinks, fab entertainment. My only slight complaint was the entertainment was very, very loud, Will take ear plugs next time! Staff were lovely, friendly & attentive. We would go again. I'd like to go back for a Sunday roast and other things on the menu looked interesting as well! 5*****”
“Went here for my leaving drinks and absolutely loved it. Friendly peeps all round.”
“Fantastic pub in the arches. Very cosy and atmospheric. Park in Churchill Square Car Park 2/The Lanes Car Park for cheaper nighttime parking.”
“Feels like a proper English country inn, with great atmosphere and friendly staff. There's a function room to hire (I was there for a party) and the buffet was great. I'd be tempted to go try the rooms and the main restaurant sometime.”
“Travelled to Shoreham to meet a friend and watch Brighton v Chelsea and I've got to admit, was not pleased when he suggested meeting here - train station pubs, usually to be avoided. But had a lovely time. Big bar, very spacious, lots of good TVs, and nice and warm. Def come here again.”
“Our waitress Debbie was absolutely perfect. She was friendly, professional, and genuinely caring throughout our visit. She asked about allergies, checked that our meals were okay, and made sure we had everything we needed. When my 85-year-old mother felt cold by the window, Debbie kindly moved us to a warmer spot. She finished by saying it was lovely to see us and wished us well as we left. The food was fine and the drinks were served quickly, but it was Debbie’s warmth and attention to detail that really stood out.”
“A lovely pub right by the sea. Old and inside it goes on and on with a pool room, darts room, and a downstairs that leads to the sea/river. Standing outside you can be by the river. Inside, you cannot see the river due to the wall outside, yet still a lovely space inside because it has so much light. Our server, Leo, was excellent and gave you the impression that nothing was too much. A masterclass in serving customers. I gave the venue 5-star for the service. Unfortunately, I had to rate the food much less. We ordered the mussels, two lots, and the mussels were very small, overcooked, and the 'classic sauce was watery and did not have a great flavour. I wanted it to be a great dish, as we really love mussels, but alas it was not. Shame.”
“The food is really nice, looks well good inside, only 4 stars for the food because it could have done with more chips, for the first time finish the chips before the fish. Overall, it was a nice place, looks clean, and tasty food.”
