“Sunday roasts are one of the best in Brighton and Hove hands down. 7 options including veggie & vegan plus kid options. Great selection of puddings too. Kid and dog friendly. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I couldn't recommend this pub more.”
“My friend and I came here for a few drinks the night before last and we would just like to comment on how socially aware, friendly and helpful the bar staff were. If you want great drinks and don’t know the area well, this is a welcoming bar. Would recommend!”
“the staff were lovely drinks were amazing food was amazing loved it will be back. lydia made our iced coffees she’s so sweet and lovely xx”
“Have just returned from enjoying the tastiest breakfast here! We were looking for somewhere do friendly for myself, my parents and my brother and his partner to meet and catch up but we were hoping to bring our 10 month old German Shepherd pup too. They couldn't have been more chilled and accommodating if they tried. Firstly, the staff were so lovely and friendly, super chilled with Bella, bringing her a bowl of water when we arrived and so kind when she wasn't totally aware how much space her puppy butt was taking up. The food was amazing, the smoothies tasted great and when we ordered a sausage for the pup, it was provided in a cute lil cup of her own and helped keep laying down and learning to be calm in public places. I ordered the chorizo eggs (Photo) and I would wholeheartedly recommend. We will absolutely be returning in the near future!”
“Great food, friendly and attentive service, good price.”
“I love this place. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I like taking my coffee sitting outside. Actually I find its interior very inspiring and peaceful.”
“Really lovely pub, feels very homely even when really busy. Close to the station and a great atmosphere every time I've been”
“Had a Sunday roast here at the weekend at is was up there with the best. The pork was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! Roast potatoes were crisp, salty goodness. The veg (cauliflower cheese, roasted carrots, greens, sweet potato purée) were all just as you’d want them. Great big fluffy Yorkshire - good stuff. And the gravy was thin but it packed a flavour punch and was served in a good quantity! If I could change one thing it would have been to swap out the purée for extra apple sauce, but that’s personal preference! My partner and friend were equally impressed with the vegetarian roast, however they were both slightly unsure of the veggie gravy which was orange, potentially carrot or sweet potato based. It was tasty - just unexpected. The sticky toffee pudding was really moist and flavourful! Personally I like it with a little less toffee sauce, or for it to be in a jug, but it didn’t stop us eating it all. Will definitely be back.”
“I reserved a table to watch the Women's Euros 2025 with some friends and I had the best experience! The atmosphere was brilliant, The Kemp had ensured each table had a good view of the various screens (inside and in the garden) and the staff were fabulous. They even had the celebratory songs ready to play the minute we had won the final. I just wanted to express my gratitude as my friends and I had the most joyful experience. Thanks Kemp pub team! xx”
“Friendly welcome, full of locals enjoying the warmth, along with the tasty food and drink.”
“Popped in for impromptu lunch and chat with a mate. Warm, jolly welcome. Beer (Long Man) very pleasant and nicely kept. Food was excellent (I had the gammon, egg and chips - nice piece of meat, plenty of it and very tasty, my friend had a burger). Both very happy with the food, service and ambiance. Decamped outside for a smoke, to the large, covered seating area (with booths and heaters); we were so comfy we stayed outside for the rest of our visit. In all we stayed about 4-5 hours.”
“Love this pub!! All the staff are super friendly and the vibe is very warm and cosy ❤️ I had the philly cheeseburger and omg it was insane and so reasonable! Good spacious beer garden with lots of seats and lots of character. 10/10 pub!”
“"We stopped by for a Thai lunch deal and were pleasantly surprised! The food was absolutely delicious—flavors were spot on and very enjoyable. The portion sizes might feel a little small, depending on your appetite (my wife found them a tad modest), but for me, they were just right. Overall, a lovely dining experience!"”
“We held our area meeting in the room above the pub. On arrival the room was all laid out ready with water and glasses. Excellent venue to hold a meeting. Big screen to hook your laptop up to. We also had lunch there and the food was fantastic. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful from start to finish. We will definitely be returning again. Great venue. Thank you”
“Honest, tasty, cooked in small batches food (some dishes might be off the menu, worth asking what is not available). Competitive prices (especially on drinks). Had sauerkraut soup, pork ribs & goulash. All delish ! Give them a try you won't be disappointed. Clean premises. Service was speedy &polite. Polish & English spoken.”
“I think this must be fairly new as I have no recollection of this pub / restaurant. Thomas Paine has strong local connections, unlike Casta and Madge. He helped inspire the American revolutionary war and almost lost his head in the French one. Silly so and so. I had another Harvey's Sussex best bitter. One of three real ales on my visit. Very good. Up steep stairs finds a roof terrace. Must be lovely on a warm sunny day / evening. Free wifi.”
“A lovely pub with friendly, attentive staff. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Nice and cosy seating areas didn't feel overlooked. Good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit.”
“We decided to enjoy a roast at The Egremont and were lucky to arrive early enough to get the last table before they filled up with 100 pre booked roast dinners I ordered the lamb shank, while my friend chose beef, both served with crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, red cabbage, mashed swede, broccoli, carrots, and parsnips—much more than we expected! We also shared a giant portion of cauliflower cheese and some massive pigs in blankets, which we affectionately dubbed The Egremont sausage surprise. The food was delicious and plentiful, and I even shared some of the pigs in blankets with the neighboring table, & bought some food home - If you plan to go, I recommend making a reservation! The Egremont”
“The quality of the food and service at The Corner House pub was absolutely exceptional. If you’re looking for the perfect place for a Sunday roast — look no further! You’ll be amazed at the portion sizes, especially the Yorkshire puddings, which were out of this world. Every single vegetable was cooked to perfection, with real care and quality shining through. We went as a small family of four and were completely blown away by just how good the food was. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming too, making it the ideal spot for a family meal. If you want a Sunday roast done properly, make sure you get in there early — I can only imagine tables get booked out well in advance. Thanks for a wonderful experience. — Martin and family”
“Burgers amazing, recommend the Steak burger! Fantastic people and food Cheers mate, great to see you today! My Email is [email protected] for website”
“Local charm, delicious Sunday Roast, and extremely friendly staff. 10/10 recommend! The mint and horseradish sauces were tasty additions!”

Memories that will last a lifetime were made and we as a family can’t Thankyou enough for how special it has made Christmas. Please please do this again next year. We are showing friends and family who would all want to come. Thankyou x”
“They have an excellent Christmas menu selection. The roast turkey comes with all the trimmings. They have a good selection of Sussex wines and an adequate range of international wines - most of which are available by the glass in a range of glass sizes. We were served by Esme, who could not have been more attentive and helpful. The Sunday lunchtime crowd included several families and larger groups, resulting a lot of happy chattering. We appreciated their Christmas selection of cocktails and coffees.”
“What a fun place to stumble upon whilst driving past. The staff dress up in cowboy outfits and the Halloween decor was really fun the kids loved it. Good food, kids enjoyed the pizza and the burgers were tasty. Refillable drinks is good too. It is on the pricier side.”
“Really vibey pub. The staff were all very friendly and the place looked very clean. I loved that they had board games to play. The menu was great and included a heap of vegetarian options. The food was delicious as well as their drinks. I definitely would recommend to anyone who is in Horsham.”
“What a place to celebrate a staff Christmas party. When we entered, it felt like we were in a fairy tale town. Posh, lovely decor, clean toilets. Whole restaurant looked amazing, you couldn’t find any faults. We ordered our drinks and food and it arrived with smiles. All the food looked and tasted amazing; we all loved it! We want to personally thank the management for serving amazing food and delivering brilliant service. By the time we leave all my staffs’ faces are full with smiles! Highly recommend! Thanks Hen and Chicken SOUTHWATER”
“Five of us on a cycling trip to Newhaven stopped here for brunch. What a find! Really good service and excellent fried breakfast - just what we needed on a cold wet day.”
“Food was lovely - great value for money, I also had my 2 year old with me, the cafe is very kid friendly which is brilliant! Staff were very friendly and welcoming, we will be back! xXx”
“Great spot, but more importantly I recently had a Sunday roast there, and it was one of the very best I've ever had, and I don't make such statements lightly! I had the veggie version, but my partner felt similarly about her meaty one.”
