“Stayed here for my time in Etwall and you couldn’t pick a better spot. The location is fantastic and the room itself was nicely decorated and well maintained. This is all second to the first rate service and the friendliest of staff, who were extremely helpful during my visit. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in lovely Etwall.”

“I've been put off from ordering due to negative reviews for some time but tonight thought I'd just give it a go So I'm specifically looking for freshly grilled chicken and lamb on the skewer over a flame grill. Something I used to get at TJs in Leicester many moons ago. The key elements for me is never old meat sitting in a bain Marie and the option for grilled onions and peppers. So here's what you get. The most succulent, delicious and perfectly barbecued chicken and lamb straight off the skewer. Perfectly marinated and cooked fresh. The option of grilled peppers and onions and absolutely incredibly delicious barbecued mushrooms for just only £2 extra. The naan bread was soft and delicious and perfectly crisp on the outside. Generous portion of salad and delicious. Slightly crispy but perfectly pickled peppers. Food arrived. Piping hot and can only wait at 10 out of 10. This is by far my new favourite kebab place in Derby. We will be ordering again!”

“We couldn’t decide on what to have for dinner. We were on our way to get a kebab but saw this truck parked at the pub and decided to turn around. We are glad we did because the pizza was fantastic! We had the pepperoni, Francesca, and the special mushroom truffle. All three were very good! Definitely a must try!”

“Wow! Caught a last minute booking for the ten course - yes TEN - tasting menu. Fab-u-lous! Something so wrong yet right about starting with the unmistakable taste of a Big Mac from the first course but we then cantered through so many creative and sumptuous dishes, each painstakingly presented and introduced by her enthusiastic and friendly team. Start with a cocktail and then enjoy taking your time with the wide choice of wines to suit all tastes (and budgets). We went with a Montrachet as it was a special occasion and the food deserved a wine to match. But please don’t make a reservation - it was hard enough to get one this time!”

“My recent dining experience at Donington Manor Hotel was a delightful journey of flavours and ambiance. After the complimentary snacks and amuse bouche I started my culinary adventure, with the crab starter. The presentation was a work of art, a testament to the chef's attention to detail. The dish featured a delicate crab accompanied by a zesty tomato essence dressing, which provided a refreshing burst of flavour. The freshness of the crab was undeniable, and the combination of textures, including crispy greens and kohlrabi, made for a well-balanced and satisfying starter. It left me eagerly anticipating what was to come. For my main course, I chose the lamb dish. I was pleased to find that the rump was cooked to perfection, tender and succulent with a beautiful pink centre, whilst the slow cooked lamb shoulder bonbon just melted in your mouth. It was accompanied by a delectable earthy yet creamy courgette puree whilst the pepper puree completed the flavour profile of the dish. The portion size was generous without being overwhelming, and the presentation was once again impeccable. The service throughout the meal was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering wine pairings and answering any questions I had. The pace of the meal was just right, allowing me to savour each course without feeling rushed. Donington Manor Hotel's restaurant exceeded my expectations with its combination of exceptional cuisine and a charming ambiance. I highly recommend giving it a try. I left the restaurant with a satisfied palate and a desire to return to explore more of their offerings.”

“The most gorgeous little shoe shop. Our friend recommended it to have our toddlers feet measured and we've been back repeatedly. The brands they carry are fab, many made in Britain and their customer service is fantastic. They are really patient with our little one who is now a whizz at getting his feet measured by their wonderful team. We'll be back again soon!”

“It's taken us ages to actually get round to booking a table but decided to take our friend here for his birthday. We were really impressed with the food and the service. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly and the chips and onion rings were amazing. The rest of the meals were great and it's a lovely atmosphere and the staff were lovely. To top it off they even brought out a surprise dessert with a candle on for the birthday boy. Thanks for a great meal.”

“Fantastic food and atmosphere for our wedding anniversary dinner. Nothing was too much trouble, my wife is gluten free and they were able to do her a gluten free base pizza. Definitely order the olives as well! Loved the fact that this was a family run restaurant and you can really see the effort put in especially into the food. “Myself and my partner were travelling for a Rally and wanted to go up night before. I rang here and they said staying over in Motorhome wasn't a problem as long as we had a meal and drinks which wasn't a problem for us. Rang on the way on Thursday 29/05/2025 to confirm and was told maybe busy due to Classic car show which is held there on Thursday nights (but do ring to confirm this). But we were still welcome. The place as drove in was amazing with big lake view. We parked up and went in and was greeted by friendly, welcoming lovely staff and owners. James and his team really helpful and friendly. We bought drinks which was reasonably priced. We had the carvery which was absolutely amazing and so tasty and hot definitely worth the money. The place is so clean and tidy. The whole building inside and outside is lovely to look at. There is plenty of seating inside and outside with garden seating area overlooking the lake. Plenty of parking. The walk around the lake was nice and seeing all the ducks and Canadian geese. There is fishing allowed and rules which are in view. We are hoping to stop here again in few weeks. So if travelling and want to stop for night give them a ring. Cannot fault this place. Definitely going again and recommend. Reading the history of the building is interesting. Nice village to travel through. We woke to amazing view and so quiet in the night.. They also cater for various functions..”

“We hired The Little Kitchen for our works Christmas night out, and Donna and her team never fail to impress. They are so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely can’t do enough for you. We had the turkey Christmas dinner, which was absolutely delicious — a proper home-cooked meal with plenty of veg options. The red cabbage was especially amazing! There were two dessert choices, and I went for the chocolate one, which was so nice. They even let us bring along our own silly team games, which was perfect for our very competitive group. This was our second year returning, and we honestly wouldn’t find anywhere better for quality food and such a warm, friendly atmosphere. Thank you once again”

“The Boot is half walk to meet my mom, and we’ll 100% be back. Fabulous location just off the A38, and plenty of parking. The food was sublime and a wine list to generously accompany the dishes. A running theme with all my reviews is that I like a nice wine list and the Boot offers exactly that. The food was so fresh and full of flavour, beautifully presented. A real Gastro Pub that welcomes dogs which is important for us as a family of dog owners, who enjoy the finer things. Thank you to the wonderful Heidi who look after us, you made mom’s birthday experience thorough enjoyable. We’ll be back!”

“So came here in April 25 for a casual dinner to celebrate my wife’s birthday. 4 year old daughter was in tow. The spring menu was Italian themed. I have to say that this is a proper gastro pub. The food is excellent. Really high quality and very very tasty. Portion size is good so you won’t leave hungry. Expresso martinis are delicious as was the wine. As it was my wife’s birthday they brought out a brownie and a candle and some ice cream for my daughter just so she wouldn’t feel left out. Luckily this is in vicinity and is out go to place when we want some decent food and a nice night out. We’ll be back.”
