“We recently had our wedding at Left Bank, and 5 stars doesn't feel like enough. Not only is it just THE most beautiful venue (our guests couldn't get over it!) but Sam and the team are just beyond words. They were there to help at every stage, suggesting suppliers and giving general advice on top of helping with more venue-specific things. They did all the set-up, all the take-down, they were so accommodating to every request, and so friendly and welcoming at every point in the planning process. We didn't have to worry about a single thing on the day because we just knew, and could fully trust the team to take care of everything. Everyone we've spoken to and every member of staff we've dealt with has been a delight and so happy to help, we genuinely don't have a single spot of negative feedback. It also feels so special that Left Bank isn't just a wedding venue, so we can return as much as we like for drinks or events and re-live our day. Thank you to the entire team (and especially Sam) for making our day a reality. You're all the absolute best!”

“Only bobbed by for a quick potato scallop, which came with bits .. bloody amazing. Crispy batter, butter soft potato in the middle , with free bits on top.. rally a meal in itself , but I got one to try and review, and happy i was too. Great value .. absolutely no complaints here worth of 5 stars.”

“The BEST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!! The drinks kept on coming ( we went for the bottomless brunch menu) and the drinks were all a 10/10. Big shout out to MYLES the Staff. I have never had someone attend to me with such professionalism and dedication. You just know he wants you to have a good time and ensures that happens. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. If you were considering going please do so. It was an amazing time.”

“First try at this place and was really impressed. The menu was tasty and healthy. I had the poached eggs on sourdough which was tasty and a fun mix of textures. Gf enjoyed the sweet potato hash. The matcha latte was great, not too sweetened. Decaf flat white was top notch. Friendly staff, good COVID measures (screens, wait at door to be seated), but I don't recall giving them my details for track and trace. Decor is well done if standard for a hipster place. Nice wooden floor, industrial ceiling - as you'd expect. High quality though. Would definitely go again.”

“We booked accommodation at Ploughcroft Cottage on the recommendation of our son and daughter-in-law. They had stayed earlier in the year, and were incredibly impressed with both the establishment and the owners. Having now stayed there ourselves, it's easy to see why. The cottage is warm and welcoming. Karen & George greeted us with tea and biscuits (including Gluten Free for my wife who is Coeliac), and we had a lovely chat with them both.They are great company. Our room was very comfortably furnished, with a large selection of hot drinks, biscuits and chocolates. Everything was finished to an exceptionally high standard, and the bed was both large and comfy. The en-suite bathroom had a great selection of toiletries, all great quality and was also finished beautifully. This was more luxury hotel standard, than simple B&B. Breakfast was both large and of exceptional quality - fresh fruit salad and juices, nice cereals, followed by an amazing full-English (full-Yorkshire?). Everything on the plate was clearly of excellent quality, and absolutely delicious. Having eaten everything which was available, I found myself unable to eat anything further for the rest of the day! There are great views from the cottage over Halifax, and the nearby pub/restaurant is lovely. Both are walkable, although you'd need to be pretty fit to do so. Needless to say I used the car. :) The stay represented excellent value for money. We'll definitely be back again, and shall look forward to further chats with Karen & George, a really lovely couple who have done their utmost to ensure a perfect stay.”

“Elite natural wine range. Some of the very best producers in the game at most price levels. Lovely, helpful and knowledgeable staff. There’s space for four or five people to try some of the wines by the glass but this is primarily a shop - and a very good one.”

“Kevin was such a knowledgeable guide! We really enjoyed the two-hour walking tour, and it’s amazing that it was all free through the Association of Voluntary Guides of York. He took us along the Roman walls and explained the timeline of when the Romans and Vikings arrived in York, which made the city’s history so much easier to picture. Such a great way to see York definitely support these volunteers if you get the chance!”

“Today we were visiting York Dale's tour with Trevor, our guide and driver. Everything was simply top-notch! The stories he told were captivating and revealed secrets of places no one else would have guessed (like the wood-carved mice on the benches in the old church). The guide had an answer to every question, even the most tricky, that suggests about his deep knowledge of Yorkshire history and his many years of experience. Also, the breathtaking views from the panoramic windows of the bus are truly remarkable. Sheep, cows, and the occasional bird were all self-appointed actors who performed their roles perfectly, on 10/10.”

“We were a small group of 8. Alfred was a great guide. He did an excellent job in walking us through the history of York from the Romans to the railways and was able to link the development of the city to landmarks that we passed - with a great commentary, extraordinary historical knowledge and a lot of humourous anecdotes thrown in. One of the best walking tours I have been on and I would thoroughly recommend this tour.”

“Excellent choice of cakes, pastries and drinks with a nice setting and friendly, accommodating and welcoming staff. Consideration was given when we were ordering to mention what had alcohol and what didn't and also going to check to make sure if they weren't 100%. One of the drinks we ordered had marshmallows with gelatin in but we only found out after ordering and even though just taking them out ourselves was fine for me, they offered to make a fresh drink. 10/10 on all fronts.”
