“Great meal, generous portions - the brisket burger in particular was massive. The loaded fries we'd deffo have again. The nicest item was the surf and turf starter, quite small but super tasty. Service was friendly too. We'll go again, recommended”
“Absolutely sensational meal.. Catering for 22 of us. Lovely food served piping hot and all together.. The FOH Staff and the kitchen crew deserve medals.. Possibly my meal of the year.. Great work!!”
“Went to the Four Pears for a business lunch yesterday and had an amazing steak! It was cooked to perfection and the only problem was I wanted more! I had to leave for a meeting but the person I was with had a sticky toffee pudding that he said was divine. Definitely go here if you haven’t already.”
“Stopped over at the restaurant at the end of a few days away. Was a great way to end our trip. Menu had a great choice and the atmosphere was very welcoming and pleasant. Food was delicious and all made room for some deserts and coffees! Will definitely make a return visit. Thank you for an enjoyable lunch.”
“Wonderful pizza, great quality ingredients paired with a wonderful set of chefs. Friendly bar staff who help with any inquiry and request, not too loud and plenty of seating. Games are cheap too”
“The new owners have done a fantastic job here, they were very friendly aswell, we had 3 pizzas and they were delicious and very well priced. The garden is beautiful with lots of seating. A really lovely few hours spent here, will definitely be back.”
“We have had the best time. And why do you ask? Because the service has been top notch. If you want a boozy brunch where you drinks are served frequently and endlessly, The Mail Coach is the place to be. The food was great. We all ordered burgers!! The drinks ❤️❤️❤️ amazing!!!! Thank you. We’ll be back!!”
“To be completely honest. We found this gem of a pub by pure accident and I am so glad we did. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The food is reasonably priced and also very good quality. I had the fish and chips and the burger and they were both very good sized portions. I will definitely be returning to this pub. The interior was very well maintained. If It was possible to give six stars, i would.”
“Lovely food, great portions. Really helpful and polite staff. Will definitely visit again”
“Out for lunch with a friend. Free parking for 3 hours, right outside (excellent as pouring with rain). Special lunch offer at £5 was great value. All servers were polite and friendly. Enjoyed our time.”
“Very mediterranian in gardens.they really need to hire more staff to serve.food really nice but service lets it down.its not the staff's fault just lack of them.”
“Fantastic local cafe. Fry up is banging for the price, coffee is tasty and the staff are amazing.”
“Me and my partner finished our dance lesson up the road and popped in on the off chance they were serving food past 8pm. The gentlemen I spoke to was friendly and inviting, our dog also was allowed in. The food looked lovely and tasted great! the gin cocktail I had was great. The local atmosphere was great. Definitely a lucky find!”
“This is one of the best full English breakfasts I’ve had! All quality ingredients, served swiftly and with a smile and genuine warmth cooked to perfection from the chefs at the open kitchen. Couldn’t ask for anything more! Oh and the coffee is really good too (and we are total coffee snobs!)”
“Harry is absolutely sensational. Absolutely loved our bottomless brunch here. Such a friendly loving person. & for Katie !! Her second day working here and wow it’s like she’s been working here forever. What a lovely funny committed girl to her job. Thank you both xx”
“Popped in for lunch and had a lovely meal. Highly recommend the mushrooms on toast, and the chips were smashing. Slight problem with the battered fish, but the staff were very apologetic, and happy to put things right :) nice touch that the chef also came out to check in with us. P.S. They're dog friendly in the bar!”
“Absolutely loved our experience at Oblique! The food was simply amazing — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The hospitality was top-notch; the staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Special shoutout to the owner for being so welcoming and ensuring everything was perfect. Quick responses and genuine care made our visit truly memorable. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and exceptional service!”
“Lovely friendly pub. Quick friendly service. Food was excellent. Portions just the right size to leave room for pudding.”
“Absolutely stunning old pub. Exposed beams, fireplace, low ceiling. Lovely little pub garden too. Sheltered and open.”
“The horse and jockey will forever be one of my favourite places in Bedfordshire. The sea food is outstanding and the staff never fail to make me smile. Will recommend to everyone ❤️”
“Love love love!! What a great pub. We are first timers and came down to the Devvy last week for the 125th anniversary day and what an atmosphere, the place was jumping! All the bar staff and the owners were all dressed in outfits from different decades, it was fab! Very friendly too. Goats in Trees were our favorite, they were electric. We will definitely be back ❤️”
“Love this place! The food is amazing: freshly prepared and cooked, awesome quality ingredients-doubt you'd find a better quality fry up anywhere else locally, epic portion sizes too! The decor is truly unique. From Only Fools and Horses quotes and pictures to old hats, guitars and vinyls up on the walls. You'll struggle to not spot something new each time you visit. The staff are always friendly and helpful. All in all, my favourite way to start the weekend is a Jester's breakfast!”
“Just came in for a quick pint before a wedding. Went for the American IPA. Good service. Lovely pint. Even though it was busy, it was lovely and peaceful sat in the beer garden.”
“A very good atmosphere, wonderful staff. Food was delicious and well presented all the usual dishes on the main menu. But the specials of the day board had a great selection of things you might not expect in a pup restaurant. Will be back when in the location again”
“Such a lovely setting. Lighting, cleanliness and just the right amount of attention from staff. Not to mention the food came out in great time and subtle flavours of the classic dishes are just heavenly. I love the decor and choice of tablewear. Lovely roaring fire and great beers on tap to boot.”
“Really good home cooked Sunday roast dinner. Friendly staff and the location of the pub and the pub itself is so warm and welcoming. Would 100% return, the surroundings are stunning”
“Had a fantastic Sunday lunch here. A large group of us - 12 adults and 2 children. Friendly staff. Great menu and great prices. Everyone enjoyed their food.”
“Had a fantastic lunch here, the food was all delicious, very extensive menu to choose from, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The only downside was we waited quite a long time for our food, but the staff were all very friendly and helpful.”
“Spot on! Worth the drive on a cold wet evening. There were four of us, booked of an early dinner that really did not disappoint. The service was very good and the food (main issue) was superb. Wexford mushrooms, croquettes and black pudding for starters; duck, beef shin ragu (unctuous) and parmigiana that was to die for. Definitely a big cut above the usual pub grub and the "gastropub" offerings. One to return to and we will. Thanks”
