Lovely friendly staff, really good pizza, hot (in temperature) and crisp - no soggy bottoms here! I had the Vegan Giardiniera, delish!
1 star for the experience, 5 stars for Lee We were so disappointed with our recent visit to Pizza Express. Having been to other branches before and always had a great experience, this visit was honestly such a letdown. When the food came out, it looked like the pizza oven had been turned up far too high everything looked overdone. To make matters worse, one of our party ordered a BBQ Chicken pizza that arrived without any chicken! As if that wasn’t enough, the cocktails came out in Coca-Cola tumblers! The staff in general seemed disinterested, we waited ages for sauces, cutlery wasn’t replaced, and there just didn’t seem to be anyone around to help. Then, Lee appeared and thank goodness he did. He was genuinely shocked (as we were!) to see a BBQ Chicken pizza missing its main ingredient, and he immediately took action. He had a fresh pizza made right away, replaced our cocktails with ones in proper glasses, put the ones in tumblers in proper glasses and even took the time to check everything was sorted. His sense of humour, professionalism, and kindness completely turned the experience around. Lee is a true credit to Pizza Express, nothing was too much trouble for him, and he single handedly saved what would have been a total disaster of a meal. He absolutely deserves the Flame Pizza badge for outstanding customer service. Without Lee, this would have been a one-star experience but thanks to him, we left with a smile.
This was my first visit to Pizza Express in a long time and I was slightly disappointed! It took us quite a while to get seated as there was only one member of staffing who had to also deal with other tables. However when we did get seated the customer service was amazing! The lady who was taking care of us was really kind and charismatic. The calamari starter was very good and quite a large portion. The pizzas arrived and they looked great but we quickly learned that they were nearly flat out cold which was devastating as the pizzas themselves would have been a 10/10. It almost seemed like maybe they were just sat out somewhere waiting to be brought to the table? The tiramisu dessert was very nice and a big portion. The prices are a little bit high for what the establishment is but I must say that the portions are large so for a 3 course meal the price is reasonable. Overall, the meal started well and finished well so it’s not a bad spot.
Me and my friend visited for a spot of lunch yesterday and the service was amazing. I forgot to get the name of the waiter to mention on the review but she was excellent, super friendly and attentive. If management is reading this, it’s the young woman with blonde hair and glasses - give her a raise! Food was brilliant too, I love Pizza Express and this was my first time visiting the castleford restaurant. This is my new favourite and will be returning! Thank you guys.
I would say I have mixed feelings about this place. I went two different days and the experience was completely different. In the first day the staff was really nice, the order came fast and the cannelloni were amazing! In the second one, the order took a lot of time and pizzas was a little bit disappointing. Overall I would still say 4*
We popped in at this restaurant for dinner on a northbound journey home from visiting family. We had the good sense to book in advance as at this time of year the restaurant was very busy. The food was absolutely delicious, of the usual standard we expect of Pizza Express. Most importantly though, we would love to thank Kyle for being a truly fantastic waiter. He was extremely friendly, outgoing and dedicated to making sure all customers felt cared for and comfortable. His personality was wonderful and he was extremely diligent. Particularly special to us was his care when my little sister struggled with the spice in her dish. After bringing her some water, he suggested that soy milk (he remembered she was eating a lactose free dish) would be most useful to her and brought a small cup of that.
Quality of food, service and atmosphere, tbh, 5 stars across the board. But I'm being picky here and still giving it 4 stars for the overall price you pay for what you are getting. Its been a while since we popped into a pizza express and again, quality of the food was lovely, the Nduja calzone is a recommendation for those spice lovers out there, but on average its at least £15 per pizza, £5 per side (and the portions are a little stingy too). Our meal alone, which didn't even have any alcohol was pretty much £45 for 2.
My wife and I came late on Saturday night. The waitress in duty (forgot her name unfortunately) has been absolutely brilliant with us. We did have a very good service and the kitchen has been faultless. Came back a couple of time in the franchise ( Xscape, Manchester etc) and the quality / price of food his great, with a very strong, professional and smiling waitressing team.
Ok, first thing is the service we received by Emily was fantastic, I asked many questions about dishes and ingredients she was spot on with this and answered all of them, and checked on us to make sure everything was fine, the wait to the food being served was also good, the food, first off was a calzone which was cooked perfect, it was the vegetarian one, hot and fresh ingredients, I would recommend it, second dish was the linguine, it was nice and spicy not too spicy, the buffalo mozzarella was nice and fresh, but I think the linguine itself could have been better quality, and last off the tiramisu, this is originally what I visited for. It was a good portion size, almost traditional, but I thought it had a little too much coffee or alcohol in it, and the sponge side could have been a bit better. But it was a good one.
