Had a lovely time here at pizza express for my cousins 50th birthday. The pizza was fantastic, Milly's service was even better. shall be returning in the near future x. Cheers x

We wouldn’t normally go for this type of restaurant but we were enticed by a special offer. We made a reservation but on arrival there was a wait of about 15 minutes during which nobody informed us of what was happening and how long the wait would be. Once sat down however our order arrived quickly. My leggera pizza was delicious. The salad was very fresh and the pizza was spot on. The other members of the group also enjoyed their choices. The waiter who looked after us (a mature lady - sorry I didn’t get her name) was friendly and helpful. With the special offer applied, the bill came to £50 for the four of us for a pizza and a soft drink each which was acceptable but I wouldn’t want to pay more than that so definitely would only consider coming back if another offer was on.
Pizza was quite good, better than supermarket but not sickeningly rich like in most restaurants. The waitress serving our table was polite and helpful; we were using the app for a discount and she pointed out how to use it as we were finding it confusing. However, we did have to wait a good while for a table despite arriving in time for our reservation, and we weren't informed about if there was delay or anything, which made us feel slightly unwelcome. Overall, the experience was par with my expectations.
I always hate to leave bad reviews and very rarely do. We were sat for more than 20 minutes before anything was said to us and a few of the staff seemed to be doing absolutely nothing throughout this time. We did get to order after this time and the food was very nice and hot. However I do feel like asking for a beer was a chore and a greivance for the staff. Not all the staff were bad as two of them seemed to do everything and the rest seemed to do absolutely nothing but wait for the others and pretend to be busy. There was no personal touch in the waiting but the food was good as always. I think a lot of time was spent on takeaways which is fine but I think if you sit in at a RESTAURANT you should be prioritised. A shame coz I’ve always loved pizza express.
We always goes there because the food and service is always excellent. The young lady that waited on us today was exceptional. Really recommend ❤
After over 10 years of visiting the Street Lane branch of PE, our visit this evening it was like visiting a completely different restaurant! The service felt really shambolic, courses arrived whilst we were still eating, the lasagne was so bad I had to send it back ( which to be fair the manager was very apologetic about) and the pizzas ranged between soggy to burnt. But by far my biggest gripe which is unforgivable, was the total disregard for hygiene I witnessed in the kitchen. Chefs touching their faces, noses, mouths, scratching their hair and then touching the food with their same, unwashed, bare hands. At one point 3 kitchen staff including the head chef were looking at/touching thier phones whilst preparing food! Enough to put us off I'm afraid.
