UMU is honestly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in London. The atmosphere is stunning, calm, elegant, and cozy at the same time. The open chef’s table is a real highlight where you can watch the chefs prepare each dish with such skill and attention to detail. The food is exceptional; every piece of sushi was incredibly fresh and full of flavour, easily the best I’ve tasted in the city. The service is flawless, with the team and chefs taking the time to greet and interact with you, which makes the whole experience feel warm and personal. If you’re looking for top-quality food, perfect service, and a beautiful setting, UMU is absolutely worth it.

Had an express lunch here and really enjoyed it. It felt like being in Japan, the staff greet you in l Japanese and are very attentive and professional. The fish was incredibly fresh, truly top quality. A nice multi course Japanese experience, great ambience and well balanced dishes. We also received a small complimentary treat, which was a very nice surprise. We will definitely come back.

I had an amazing evening at UMU in Mayfair. The wagyu beef and lobster with shellfish were incredible, and our cocktails were just as elegant. They truly have the best sake list in London, and the impeccable service made the whole experience feel effortless. The desserts were a standout for me—complimentary warm pistachio cake bites and chocolate-coated almonds were the perfect sweet touch. A beautiful and memorable dining experience.

Best sushi and best sashimi at Michelin star restaurant London! I had a lovely experience at Umu Restaurant! So delicious! I went for lunch and had the chef’s nigiri selection from their lunch menu along with salad and miso soup. The fish was so fresh and melted in my mouth. I had plum sorbet for dessert which was divine and tasted so refreshing. Service was impeccable, staff were friendly. It had a beautiful atmosphere and decor. Highly recommend! I look forward to returning very soon!

Had lunch at UMU today and was blown away. The space has such an elegant atmosphere—calm, refined, and perfect for a mid-day escape from the city noise. The menu was outstanding; every bite was fresh, delicate, and perfectly balanced. It really is luxury Japanese dining at its finest. The service was exceptional as well, with great recommendations and attention to detail. A flawless experience from start to finish. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable lunch in London.

The food was okay and not worth the money in my opinion (I am from Japan btw). You can certainly find better Japanese food for more reasonable price in London or Tokyo. The service was also very mediocre.... They made a mistake on my dessert, but they weren't so apologetic. I felt like they wanted me to take the wrong dessert... In the end I was coughing like crazy for a while for some reason, but nobody offered me water until one of the sushi chefs noticed much later. Overall very disappointing. I don't think I will go again, unfortunately.

Huge fan of Japanese food in general and I’m not new to fine dining. I was excited to be trying Umu, but left sorely disappointed. I don’t understand why they have a Michelin star. The service is lacking, the decor/ambiance is average and the flavours are nothing new or creative. I struggle to see how and why they charge the prices they do. We spent £500+ excluding desserts. There is much better sushi available in London. Avoid.

Excellent food, good service, relaxed atmosphere. However, we had a 9:30 booking. At 9:45 we were told that all of our food orders minus dessert needed to be in by 10pm. This led us to rush, and also ruined the normal sushi experience of ordering more pieces as needed. We also weren't able to see what was on the sashimi platter before ordering nigri. Should have been told prior to confirming the booking that this was the case. Failing that, should have been told at check-in or immediately upon seating. Ruined the vibe completely, and seems like a strange oversight for such a highly rated place. There should be no bookings past 9. One of the most expensive meals per minute I've ever had.

Very well done Japanese food. They have sushi and regular mains, but the tasting menu is where the action is. Expect to spend at least 3 hours here. £300-400/person. Cocktails are amazing.

An outstanding Japanese food experience in London. We ate mostly the chef's sushi selection as a lunch set. The sushi was meticulously made to be perfect. The supporting dishes of a salad, soup, and the dessert were very esthetic and delicious as well. The bathrooms reminded me of Japan, they are very clean and located far enough from the dining area to be completely separate. The service was very precise.
