   We visited this Taro Japanese restaurant last week, and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was awesome — full of authentic flavors and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was calm, cozy, and inviting, making it a perfect place to enjoy a great meal. The Tonkatsu Ramen was the highlight — rich, flavorful broth with perfectly cooked noodles and a crispy, tender pork cutlet on top. It was comfort in a bowl! The Beef Don was equally amazing — juicy, tender slices of beef served over warm rice with just the right seasoning. Every bite was satisfying.

   Would not recommend. This is their version of “beef teriyaki don… overcooked meat with mushy rice. A “tempura salmon roll” actually means they deep fry the whole roll with the salmon and avocado inside… so you are eating cooked salmon and hot avocado inside what is supposed to be fresh sushi. None of the dishes come out as authentic Japanese. I was flabbergasted. The atmosphere is also so chaotic. It’s become a take away place. Felt like I was in a fried chicken shop. So disappointing.

   I’ve eaten in other Taro’s in central London. Often get take away here which is delivered well. The cocktail was amazing. Food can be on the more expensive side like £7.90 for a small seaweed salad.

   Really delicious dishes, both dine in and takeaway! The garlic chicken is the highlight, followed by a very generous pork katsu curry! I enjoyed the chicken katsu sushi rolls too, but wouldn’t get the completely fried version again probably. Will deffo go again for a hearty meal for good price

   I had a nice lunch here today (Saturday). She ordered the teriyaki chicken don and I ordered the teriyaki duck don. For a starter we ordered the tempura eel avocado roll. It was sublime. The “dons” were substantial so careful not to over order. We couldn’t finish them but they were tasty. The tempura eel was out of this world and we will be going back to just eat as much of that as physically possible! That dish is a 10/10.

   We were served by the wonderful Eloise, who was an absolute delight and ensured that we all had an amazing experience. We all had the chicken katsu curry which was absolutely spectacular, followed by a nice cold, refreshing beer. Thank you so much, we will see you again soon :)

   I’ve been coming to Taro for many years back in Soho and I’ve been to Balham branch as well many times and their chicken teriyaki is my absolute favourite as it’s the best in London and I’ve tried many chicken teriyaki everywhere and outside the UK. It’s the flavour and the sauce and the way they make the skin and edge’s perfectly crispy and the delicious bed of vegetables underneath that compliments the whole taste, yummy yum!

   I’ve ordered from Taro on Deliveroo a few times and have never been disappointed. I finally visited the restaurant on Saturday at about 5pm, it was nice and quiet! Favourites have to be the Balham roll and dragon roll. If you’re looking for fresh food and good portions then Taro is the place!
