This place is ok. A little hit and miss. Get the impression they've given up already. Four of us sat at a table laid for two, no additional cutlery was brought out, once food arrived we had to grab them from an adjacent table. Once seated we had to prompt that we'd like to order drinks straight away. We were never asked if we'd like any more drinks. The food. Macaroni balls had a lot of texture, we'd envisioned soft oozing centres but they were way more sturdy, they didn't taste too bad once you'd manage to break them down after a minute or so chewing. Chicken taco was alright. Couldn't pick them up though as they'd blobbed mayo on the outside of them. Burger, pretty good. Steak pictured went down well, no complaints there. Cash only... why? Just a bit sad really. Hope they keep going, get the card machine working and start paying attention to all the things, many of them small, that people pay for on an evening out.

Arrived on Saturday 1pm, only 2 other people in, entrance door wide open as the place stunk of smoke already, sign at the door CASH only, not a biggie, cash machine 30 seconds walk but after speaking to a friend who had also visited in January looks like the 'broken' card terminal may be an ongoing thing. On a photo the selection looks quite nice however don't be fooled, in real life what you really get is a selection of pre packaged food items advertised as home made, namely; 1. scones, they looked like morrisons value range with almost no clotted cream, and someone else had already prepared them... 2. Chocolate looking cake - 100% shop bought and there were empy packets on shelf round the back 3. Cheesecake OK but I doubt it was home made.. 4. Cut up shop bought waffle with a bit of choc sauce 5. No berries despite being advertised on menu 6. Burger tasted AWFUL and was luke warm (questionable quality of meat, tasted like cheap frozen patty and charcoal) 7. Chicken sandwich ok but not enough chicken in both (we were party of 2), 8. Fries arrived luke warm and were not great, cheap frozen chips covered in Chinese five spice, hardly salt n pepper chips.. 9. Onion rings - nothing to rate Drinks wise - you either get a glass of basic lemonade with some red food colouring or 1 hot drink. We were very shocked as there are places where you get unlimited hot drinks w afternoon tea. Service - young girl who was pleasant enough, but forgot to bring us plates and mid way through our experience rocked up with two teaspoons saying she forgot (again bearing in mind there were only 2 other guests in). Atmosphere - dingey, freezing (door open with 3 degrees C outside no heating throughout), cloud of smoke and smell of must, sticky floors, tired carpets, no warm water in bathroom, music volume kept going up and down. We did not complain in person, however I did write an email with my views on the whole experience, pointing out their website shows very different information. I was advised they do not have access to their website and they the 'New' menu has been out on their socials for a while - you're not thinking of people that do not use social media and really should make more effort to remove a website that is misleading. Bottom line - Anyone debating going I STRONGLY RECOMMEND, THAT YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE BECAUSE THIS PLACE IS NOT IT AND IT WAS NOT WORTH THE MONEY! There are far far better places to eat around Oldham especially, afternoon tea especially. One plus - you can take away what you've not eaten in a paper box.

What on earth has happened to this place? Went tonight, there was only us in-party of 4. Waitress was miserable, place was freezing. Thatβs just to start. Upgraded to dirty fries, they didnβt arrive. Instead we hit a plate of burnt plain fries. When we asked where our fries were, the chef came out and laughed and said he forgot. 2 of the party had chicken hanger-the veg on it was raw! The coleslaw had not been cut up properly with huge chunks of cabbage in it. The side of mash was literally a couple of spoonfuls. What you see in social media certainly isnβt what you get, wouldnβt be surprised if this place closes soon. The owner was on site , he was not bothered. Iβd have been embarrassed and ashamed to even let that food be sent out. Avoid!

Visited Smoke Yard for a lovely long lunch with a friend today and we both thoroughly enjoyed the food, which was delicious, fresh, and cooked very well. Our waiter Tom was incredibly attentive and did an amazing job looking after us. Would recommend!

Today was a semi decent day for the weather so I thought it would be nice to eat outside for dinner. Chose the buttermilk Chicken Burger which sounded great but as you can see from my photo, looks more like a chicken strip on a bun than an actual piece of chicken breast. Maybe it's the state of the world and supply issues but it's definitely not worth Β£13.25 the sauce for chips came like those little sachets you get from the kebab shops on union Street or Blackpool when you order fish and chips. the service by the woman was very good and you can tell she loves her job.

Working in the area over the weekend and wanted an independent restaurant - so glad we chose the Smoke Yard. The table was easy to reserve online. Our whole experience from start to finish was excellent,. I must mention our waitress Faith who was outstanding, from adapting a cocktail for me to non-alcoholic, recommending dishes for my daughter who was struggling to narrow down what she wanted (another visit will be needed when in the area to try other dishes) and she really knew the menu. The quality of the ingredients was clear, the steak i had was of high quality and given the meal and service we had was good value.

Quiet, relaxed atmosphere with fantastic food! We had the Min-Me burger, Half Rack of Ribs and a Biscoff cheesecake. Would be back in a heartbeat; an absolute recommendation from me!

Ordered through the Uber delivery App, which is only a delivery service! FACT Order placed 9/10/21 COST Β£56.88 INC Β£1.79 DEL for 2 people 19.36pm Order received at 21.27pm after phoning The Smoke Yard, at 21.11pm The Uber driver waited over an hour for our food, communication from the driver was exemplary, I felt so sorry for the driver loosing money sat there waiting. I was given two different reasons why our order had taken nearly 2 hours, it was handed to the wrong driver and had to be remade???? eventually, the food arrived, within minutes I was back on the phone to The Smoke Yard, All the food was stone cold, Cheesecake's Liquid floating round the boxes, the burger's judge for yourself, not what I ordered, no resemblance to picture's whatsoever that you order from and small, at Β£10.50+ each, I ordered a gourmet burger, bread with cheese set solid not ordered,Chips with cheese and bacon didn't arrive, Halloumi small portion, side salad was tiny with some chutney looking stuff on top of it, Mac n Cheese tiny portion set solid and cold, we could not eat any of it, very disappointing. Was told to take my complaint up with Uber? why? I am complaining about the food not the delivery service, when I said I will leave a review, I was told by the manager that if I do (I wont receive a refund at all) βthe phone was slammed down, tried ringing back twice picked up they didn't speak and cut the call. After emailing twice the Owner? laid the blame wholly on Uber, as I have explained this is not the case, I was told only deal with Uber not to contact them again. My complaint relates to the very poor food quality, after all it is The smoke Yard that prepare the food, that is their part of the service, I hold them totally responsible, but the Owner or Manager repeatedly refuses to address the food not being fit to eat, I thought at Β£56.88 I was ordering quality food, I would have been better spending Β£15 at Mac Donald's than what The Smoke Yard sent out for our order. Make your own judgement see the photo's ordered from and reality! After reading many reviews, it would seem that the Uber orders are a burden to this establishment, so why enrol with the company if you cant meet demand, making excuses about turning the App off? whats that got to do with the quality of the food, blaming drivers, when once you did hand our order to the driver he was at our home in minutes, be honest with yourselves instead of blaming a taxi services, what's in the delivery bags is from your kitchen. The Owner or Manager is doing his business and internet trade great harm allowing such poor standard of food to leave the premises, he also seems to reply with any excuse but to address the real issue, which is highly frustrating. I have owned a business, the customer always comes First ! I would not recommend The Smoke Yard at all.
