   Really nice fish with crispy batter. The chips could have been cooked a big longer, but I can't complain. I'd definitely order again. As a side note, I saw the review mentioning a maggot. The photo is not of a maggot, but a mealworm, who tend not to live indoors, in places such as chip shops, for example. They are very commonly used for bird feed though. A cynic might suggest that the dried mealworm, such as the one photographed, is more likely to have been placed there specifically for the photograph than not.

   The first time I went to try the chippy and I highly recommend it the food was fresh and hot and the staff was kind and helpful and friendly (I will definitely be back to that chippy) (NO BAD REVIEW FROM ME) 5 stars all round ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

   We’ve been regular customers here and always enjoyed the food in the past, but unfortunately our recent experience was really disappointing. When we dished up and tucking in under a chip , we found a maggot in them. This was shocking and completely unacceptable. We’re really disappointed as this used to be our go-to chippy, but after this experience, we’ve lost confidence in coming and ordering our usual again unless we can see clear improvements in cleanliness and food safety. Edit: thank you for your reply however I did call straight away when i found it to prevent leaving a bad review and contacting anyone there was no mention of anything in the phone call I was not invited to call in to receive a refund hence the review.

   Beware of the hair seems to be a common issue here looking at other people’s reviews. Though to talk about everything I had, I thought that the cheese, and onion pie was well-cooked, and tasty. The mushy peas tasted weird, and were cold, and whilst I ate most of these chips, and they were tasty — one of the chips had a hair on it? Something I noticed immediately, and it seemed to have sunken into the chip itself — the only photos here, and the main reason that I’m writing this bad review as aforementioned — it couldn’t be scraped off either — shame as it would’ve otherwise been three star

   The woman did not drain the oil of my fish properly, so unfortunately it was really soggy. Wish they would focus on serving customers rather than standing in a circle talking.

   Used to be a good chippy but not any more, they are utterly USELESS. There were only 2 people in front of me when I entered the shop and they took my order and payment within 5 minutes. I had to wait about 40 minutes to get my order because they were fulfilling orders for Deliveroo and other phone orders. They wrapped my fish and pies and left them on the side going cold whilst they waited for chips to be FRIED.

   I ordered from here Sunday everyone says how lovely it is. Well ours wasn't the fish wasn't nice at all and as for the peas as soon as I took the lid off the smell hit me and as a chef mushy peas shouldn't smell like that they weren't even green they were brown. The nicest thing was the curry sauce.

   Unfortunately, this was the first time and last time trying Offerton Fish Bar. We have heard a lot of good things about this place however I don't think it was reflected in what I was given. Firstly, everything was dripping in grease. The Spam fritter came straight out the fryer and onto the paper. The nuggets came in a big polystyrene container which was very wasteful. The fish was soggy and we even found a hair in it. The only good thing was the gravy!
