On 2 June 2025, I placed an order from Ohba Leaf Japanese Kitchen at Walthamstow via Deliveroo, and unfortunately, every single dish was of unsatisfactory quality. The only exceptions were the Seaweed Salad and Mixed Pickles. I was unable to eat anything else in its entirety due to how unpleasant the food was. What I ate and when: Koroke Pumpkin, Koroke Pumpkin Curry, Tofu Katsu Curry, Seaweed Salad and Mixed Pickles, Accompanying Salad, and Soy Sauce consumed between 23:40 and 01:06. I was unable to finish the meal due to its poor quality and have preserved the remaining food as evidence. The Koroke Pumpkin and Tofu Katsu Curry were particularly difficult to eat. The tofu had an unpleasant texture and flavour, while the koroke lacked freshness entirely. They tasted like onion flavoured hash browns. The accompanying salads were extremely disappointing. I initially thought one had a brown dressing, but upon tasting it, I suspected it might have been spoiled, as some of the leaves were brown and wilting. Despite researching the restaurant thoroughly on Deliveroo and Google, which show ratings of 4.8 and 4.7 stars respectively, the actual quality was far below expectations. Worse, I became unwell after eating and this was deeply concerning. I contacted both Deliveroo and the restaurant. The restaurant told me over the phone that they would issue a direct refund. I was asked for my number and told I would be contacted and sent the refund directly to my account. Despite this, I never received it or any further response. I strongly advise others to think carefully before eating at Ohba Leaf Japanese Kitchen at Walthamstow.

Amazing food and huge portions. We had the katsu curry and sushi rolls. Stunning!

We've walked past Ohba Leaf so many times but haven't really felt like sitting in to eat as there aren't tables and chairs. Today's visit was a special walk over to order and to take our food home to eat and boy was it worth the walk. The chicken katsu curry was pipping hot (sorry, we were so hungry once we got home and wasn't able to get a picture - next time) still after a 20 minute walk. My sushi was lovely, it really hit the spot. The sashimi was a lovely thick slice and excellent value, the spider roll was a treat as not everyone sells it. This will now be my go to as my local.

As a Sushi lover, who orders sushi locally 2x a week at least, I am very disappointed tonight. A Β£70 order, I have ordered a selection of dishes to try and sadly most didn't meet the expectations. All rolls were wrapped as if an amateur made it on their first day at work... Capacio was overcooked (shouldn't it be served raw????) And the overall presentation and taste wasn't great... What a shame. Won't be trying new things again for sure. :(

Visited in the evening and had an opportunity to eat in on the counter top. The prawn tempura and chicken Katsu curry were both incredibly delicious. The staff are friendly and even though itβs predominantly a takeaway place with just 5 counter top seats , the staff are friendly and accommodating throughout. This is my new favourite comfort food restaurant.

Didn't give me chopsticks on a delivery order but gave me plenty of soy and wasabi without me asking. Maybe I should have my own pair of chopsticks. Ooh birthday present! Sushi was great, yum yum. Would order again.

Our favourite sushi place in East London. Fresh, quality and simple clean flavours with their nigiri, and their makis/rolls really combine fantastic flavours and textures without over-doing it. Over years of eating here, the quality has been consistent and we keep returning!

Finally found a great Japanese place locally to us that does takeaway and delivery. Really love this place and this is our go to now for all Japanese fix when we donβt feel like leaving the house. This is authentic and doesnβt cost an arm and a leg aswell which is a bonus. We love their Chirashi don and sushi, really nice and fresh, good quality fish and portion is not small either. Hard to find a Japanese place like this where you can have the same quality sushi to eat at home as you do in a restaurant. The only thing is they donβt really have a lot of seats at the restaurant apart from a few seats at the bar area, so you would need to get it for takeaway only. Also their menu is limited with hot food, Wish they can open up a bigger restaurant and expand their menu! Food: 9.5/10 Value: 9/10
