Visited for a carvery. Food was delicious , staff were lovely. Pub was busy however the team couldn't do enough for us. Thank you for a lovely evening. We will be back!

If your thinking of having a nice Sunday roast be prepared for a long wait even though we booked the table it wasn't even set not all the places had cutterly and napkins. The ability to time the meat and veg is very questionable almost as if they do not have a head chef the staff were running around like headless chickens. Customer's asking to jump the que at the food counter as they had already started eating and were still waiting on pigs n blankets or veg with others going to tables asking for spare cutterly so they could eat... As a group of 6 we all ended up eating separately as there was only meat available or veg never at the same time and often missing some of the veg options. The meat portions and very small so don't be amazed, the vegetable were over cooked more like mush even the Yorkshire was soggy ideal for those with no teeth ideal for your great grand parents... and the mint peas surprised me which I could not eat with no mention in the menu... There was no apple sauce only, cranberry ,tarter, mint and gravy... You can tell it's no longer the same owner's, unfortunately I won't be returning with my family as we have done in the past several years.... Food standards would have a field day as the person serving didn't have a net to cover his beard... Shame used to be a great place for food, Sunday roast with great service.
Very disappointing. Expected a carvery to be packed on a Sunday lunch time. Pub was not even half full. Asked for Diet Coke/ Pepsi max to be told only serve full fat coke/pepsi. Not good for customers. Great for sugar tax. 3 choices of meat on carvery, with stuffing balls, Yorkshire puds and crackling as extras. Peas-rock hard, carrots were cold as were parsnips, sprouts were ok. Mash had a grey tinge to it and was cold. Roast potatoes very nice but I suspect are cooked in deep fat fryer and not oven roasted as you would expect. Shame as meat I had, gammon and turkey was very nice. Lots of staff on duty but when you want food or drink you have to wait for them to stop talking to come and serve you. Could be a great bustling pub. Needs a bit of TLC
The best evening. If you want good food and amazing staff... defo come here on date night. Free parking. Lovely atmosphere and it's very well priced.
I was expecting much more from this idyllic place. A lovely looking venue....from the outside. Once a tiny railway station, this romantic setting had everything to lure you inside, but that's were the quality ended. It was back to basics inside with tired looking staff and dated typical decor. Bar prices were high and you senced that they a clawing back everything they lost during the pandemic with little being invested back into quality training. The food was poor at best and arrived too long after the first order. The cocktails were weak and prepared incorrect with the bar tender resorting to Google to see the instructions on how to make them properly. Don't bother with this place, there are cheaper, more quality alternatives.
Such a great place for a meal out with family. Food was average but location is great, on the old Cheshire train line and part of the pub is where the platform used to be. A piece of history with good prices for the area as well
Great little pub with friendly staff and very reasonable pricing. I often buy vouchers for my parents as a treat and they always have a good time and really enjoy the food. A little gem tucked away next to Golden Days garden centre. Would highly recommend.
Honestly one of the best Carvery's i've ever been too, great atmosphere, brilliant food, lovely staff. We will 100% be coming back, thank you for a great sunday afternoon! Excellent
