Food very average Cheese and onion pie dry and lacking taste. Chios nice. No taste in the very small Pit of gravy. Service good nice smoky staff but all talking to each other at the bar and considering we were only two of six diners very inattentive. Just doing the minimum one would expect. No pouring of water or wine just put down and left to you. I like to be served. Just my taste and expectations I guess. This was lunch and they werenβt busy. We asked for oat milk with the coffee they didnβt have any. We compromised for skimmed milk they omit had full fat milk which we reluctantly accepted. A Sainsburyβs is just a few hundred yards away surely they could ah e gone and got some? Not customer first really is it?

Lovely stuff, amazing food, love the hummus and bread, prawns are very nice too. But the scallops are a little too salty

Stuck for a place to go and donβt want to wander far from home? You canβt go wrong with Riva. Unpretentious food, straight forward and pleasing. Mis en place is appropriate. Sometimes you just want to tuck into a meal with friends and enjoy conversation rather than marvel at the architectural wonder of the ingredients that are on your plate. A step up from casual dinning and below star dinning place. Rosette? Almost. My duck was lovely, sauce rich but not sickly sweet or cloying. I heard warm praise for chicken and the steak. The panna cotta dessert was a delight. By now you know of my aversion to reams of chocolate and sticky toffee puddings. Overall. Satisfying meal with prices appropriate for this corner of Manchester.

Great quality food for a more upscale version of a British lunch. The scallops were outstanding so was the T bone steak in particular as cooked to perfection, but was all great. Lovely restaurant in Hale village and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

We booked in for lunch Friday afternoon, been here a few times. The food was gorgeous, and the owners who were serving are just natural lovely people. A great experience. A great unpretentious spot.

Really lovely food and staff but absolutely freezing. Crack in rear wall of restaurant so cold air during meal. Would not sit at back of restaurant front is warm.

Called in on a Sunday as the restaurant we had booked fir my partner.s birthday was closed and their website was still taking bookings! Riva fitted us in even though they were full and they had a large party of guests. Excellent service . Best Sunday lunch we have had for years obviously a chef who knows about food. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended we will return!

We haven't had a fantastic Sunday lunch like that for years, a beautiful roast for two to share. Big shout to chef and the lovely staff, looking forward to visiting again.

The food surpassed our expectations and the staff were helpful and attentive. The seafood platter was the standout dish for us - definitely worth a visit. Lovely atmosphere too.
