The best fish ’n’ chips in the area. PERIOD. Anybody saying the Kingfisher on Parrin Lane is better — and the other comments — listen up. Yes, they are super friendly at the Kingfisher. They also close at 8:30, not the 9 p.m. this one does. And you can’t complain that this no longer takes card payments because neither does the Kingfisher, but this at least allows bank transfer — so basically it takes card payments. Also, saying it’s expensive? Last night I got a LARGE FISH & CHIPS with a pot of GRAVY and a pot of MUSHY-PEAS (both of which are far superior to Kingfisher’s) for £11.20. I think that’s very fair. I’m posting the pics here so you can see how amazing they are — and that’s after going to Lidl and walking 10 minutes home. Hot, delicious, and not greasy. 10/10. Give them a try at least once so you KNOW for yourself. :)

Second visit in 3months and it's gone drastically higher priced quickly and a bit of a rip off. Doesn't get many customers so usual awful business decisions... don't get many customer selling a product at £3 so I'll charge £4 now to make up... because that'll work. Customer service isn't awful but isn't great not chatty compared to king fisher who welcome you with a smile Foods decent but prices customer service and quality are no way near kingfisher on parrin Lane nearby

Not good! We’ve always been here but it’s now changed. Fish now served in paper instead of a box. Fish was so oily lost most of the batter when unwrapping. Unpleasant to eat. They now only accept cash (we always used to pay on card). Time to find somewhere new.

Fish was inedible, rubbery batter was awful the whole thing tasted like it had been sitting there since the lunchtime service. Certainly not freshly cooked!

£2.80 for a “small” portion of chips? I didn’t ask for small but the amount was measley! I think I remember getting a kebab from this place a few years back and now Ive remembered why I never went back? Rip off for standard food.

Fish clearly cooked from frozen and I could not finish it (I always finish my meals). My large chips were a small portion size maybe smaller. They did not add any salt like we instructed. They forgot to add a regular chips and gave us a meat pie instead of a cheese and onion pie. My girlfriend is veggie, so couldn’t eat it. The peas and gravy were cold and we only live around the corner. The gravy was tasteless. The chips themselves were okay but this did not make up for all the other things previously mentioned. Stay clear and go to the kingfisher instead! Much more polite/friendly and never mess an order up.

Best fish and chips I’ve had outside of going to a restaurant for a long time. We have an ‘award winning’ chippy closer to us but much prefer the Winton Bar. Freshly cooked fish, and you can order small fish which for me is more than enough. They lightly batter them on request and they’re cooked to perfection, nice crispy batter and lovely chips (2 small portions enough for 3 of us) not all hard and bitty like I’ve had elsewhere. Friendly staff too.

Trash. Last four times we’ve been it’s been awful. Not going again. This time, fish overcooked and chips undercooked. If you call your order through they don’t tell you that the card machine isn’t working.
