It was very quiet, so hard to judge atmosphere only criticism of the food was that the pie was dry and looked like it had been warm for some time. Once a good quantity of gravy was poured on it it improved. Fish pie was great and large portions. Staff were the best part of the visit very helpful friendly and efficient.

Very disappointing Sunday experience Booked a table for four for Sunday dinner and From the moment we asked about gluten-free options, you’d think we’d requested state secrets. Every question β€” even asking if they could check with the chef about gluten-free bread β€” was met with huffing and eye-rolling. We ordered a roast and specifically asked for no Yorkshire pudding or stuffing for our gluten-free guest… it arrived with both, we gave up asking in fear of more eye rolling and huffing, but the young blonde girl was more than apologetic The staff in general were rude and clearly uninterested in helping. The only saving grace was the manager, who at least tried to keep things light with some music and a bit of personality. They also ran out of chicken for starters and turkey for the roast, despite us arriving for dinner at 4:45pm β€” not exactly late. It felt like most of the menu just wasn’t available. Even asking for butter for the gluten-free bread got the same attitude, as if we’d asked them to rob a bank Overall, a really poor experience. Won’t be in any hurry to return.

This is just the most wonderful way to spend a Sunday and I suspect other days of the week too. The fact that they had live music on just added to the ambiance of this modern feeling yet traditional Pub. We went on a Sunday and the staff are so fully attentive and the dishes absolutely are amazing and also look amazing. So even though we didn't have the shared roast platter that people next to us did, and they made full use of the unlimited Yorkshire pudding situation too! I heard and overheard people saying just how good the food was and we enjoyed our veggie roast and most definitely the desserts too! They had Theo Dussek in to do a live music set, which absolutely complemented the dining experience. We stayed to listen to both sets during the afternoon, and I can think of nowhere else to spend a good chunk of time in with friends or family being nourished by great service, great food and a great atmosphere too. Paul and Tom Run this Pub with love and care, for both staff and customers alike. That shows up in the attention paid to little things, staff being fast with extra things like sauces or just picking up napkins from the floor. Nothing is too little to make sure that the atmosphere is just right for all the guests that are dining. It's a popular place, and I would recommend checking or booking if you are coming, as it is a destination. One of the great things I loved about it is that they also have their own little published brochure of walks in the area. This just highlighted how much they want to be a pub at the heart of the community in which they are. I really can't say enough good things about it, I would just recommend that you try it!

Served by Thomas who’s a delight, very attentive and impeccable manners. Food delicious as usual. The gluten free fish was superb and didn’t taste like it was gluten free. Paul was mein host as usual. Our go to place for a good night out

Beer was great, no issues. Food left a lot to be desired. Two of our party ordered the roast butternut squash, they got some sort of vegetarian patty that showed no signs of ever being near butternut squashes. I ordered salt and pepper squid for starter and a refried chip had found it's way to the bottom of the bowl. I ordered Roast Beef for a main, which said it came with Horseradish Sauce. When it arrived I had to ask for the sauce. Could have been a lot better.

A planned meal for 8 friends. Lovely setting but the food and service was extremely poor. Took over an hour after ordering for food. No warning or apologies. Said busy but it clearly wasn't. Brought the 2 quicker meals out once we threatened to leave. Both meals wrong, cold and poor quality. The other meals were good but seemed to be microwaved to reheat. Partial hot and cold. Just got the second drinks for free. For the money we paid it was not worthy. Won't be recommending.

A pleasant enough meal but it's the little things that can make a place rank higher than others. Staff pleasant, but seemed slightly disorganised. Small thing, but the mains came out before anyone had cleared the starter plates. The food was fine. The pies were a bit dry especially round the edges but the meat was succulent and tender with plenty of taste. The cheese pie was a little bland. The burger went down very well also. No one came over and asked if everything was ok and ordering more drinks was more difficult than it should be. Update as of the 18-Aug-22. Very little has changed even though it's now run by a different chain. Good to see they had a choice of no alcohol beers. I had something called three cheese pie and again it was a little bland, dry and the texture felt more like the consistency of scrambled egg that's overdone. We were in a group of 12 and overall the service was fine.
