   My friend and I visited John Gilbert on 19th December for lunch. Service was very good (by Casey). Both our meals were very tasty and served lovely and hot. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. A nice relaxing ambience. I would definitely recommend this pub both for food and service.

   Nice venue. Didn’t get a welcome or anything really, and we initially moved from where we were sat as there was some sort of cold draft coming from somewhere. As we moved another customer said “trying to find a warm bit? It’s freezing isn’t it? Someone else just moved from there too.” After ordering on the app it took a fair while for the 2 Cokes to arrive, but they did apologise when they brought them. After that we had a close to half an hour wait for a festive toastie and ham hock and shredded turkey pie to arrive, with nothing said about the wait by the staff when they placed the cutlery and sauces box on the table a few minutes before the food arrived (strangely they didn’t actually say anything, they just put it on the table and walked off). When the food arrived it was tasty. Nothing special but still good. I would’ve preferred if the toastie was toasted on both sides but that’s a personal preference. The little pot of gravy was superb though, super rich! Pleasant enough. I guess everywhere has good and bad services.

   Had a very nice christmas lunch here for 17 people today. The pub was warm, welcoming and nicely decorated for christmas. The table and decor was lovely. The food was brought promptly (it had been preordered). It was warm, tasty and very well received by us all. The two servers were friendly and genuinely happy to help. I'm afraid that I didn't get their names. All in all avery nice afternoon

   The food is ok at best, and it is over priced by £5 per meal, the service was very poor, I had to ask twice for the desert after watching the only waitress walk past our empty plates 3 times. Definitely won't be going there again

   Visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon for a coffee and lunch. The place was easy to find and had plenty of car parking spaces. The place was very clean and the staff were very friendly. The meal was very average, nothing special unfortunately. Cheap and cheerful. Coffee selection was decent. The selection of alcohol was limited unfortunately, but that could of been bad timing. The outdoor area was it's best feature and would recommend it if you were looking for an outdoor drink. They are allergen friendly but make you jump though hoops to order if you have an allergen which I found bizarre and unnecessary.

   Nicely decorated pub inside and out , friendly bar staff and good live music just a shame food was so disappointing main course portions too small/mean , sausages undercooked , mash out of a packet , no selection of sauces asked whole grain or French mustard only got english. waiter didn’t bother to come back and ask if food was ok just as well really as speaks for itself !!

   My friend celebrated her 60th birthday here on Friday. Great place, great food, staff where lovely and friendly. Band was great too. Wished I lived nearer would defiantly be my local. xx

   Enjoyed a wonderful family meal. I was impressed with Samantha (our lovely Waitress), she was very helpful and friendly with excellent customer service. I would highly recommend this place for a cosy dinner.
