Amazing flavours at a reasonable price. We tried the Kung Po beef and sweet sour lunch sets, and found the flavours to be authentic and exceptional. They were tasty, not artificial tasting like some sauces can be, and generous; rice portions were smaller but that can be a good thing to prevent overeating. We also tried their Salmon bento box and really enjoyed the variety and flavours.

Pretty tasty food. I've been to Japan and it has its similarities. A bit of a weird vibe and a curious and nervous chap served us. I think he was new. An unattended child played an irritating electronic game in the corner. I think they live on site. Zero charm but pretty tasty food. Beer not cold enough. Would still return though. £90 for three people, beers, starters, mains.

Really enjoyed the food! Sushi was made on the spot behind the counter, tasted excellent and looked spectacular too. I had a chicken katsu; the chicken had a good panko crust like you would expect was very crispy and the fresh vegetables & salad dressing was a nice addition too. A good value for the portion size with plenty of chicken. All the staff were very polite and kind which is also a nice bonus! Definitely worth a try and I will be eating here again!!

Don't go to the chain restaurants, come here instead and get some great authentic food. I had pumpkin korokke and chicken udon noodles soup. The soy sauce egg was amazing and the chicken was melt in your mouth. Try it yourself.

Fantastic sushi, amazing customer service even on new years eve. I'll be returning multiple times. Very good value for money and the food was delicious. One of the best sushi platters I've had!

Terrible I can award this restaurant as my worst ever ‘Japanese’ restaurant in my life. Tuna sushi without fresh tuna but can of tuna. Ramen was not ramen but instant noodles with hard chicken meat and fully boiled egg, we could not finish it as it was too awful. No next time.

Went with my Japanese wife, knowingly is not a truly Japanese restaurant, but we were all positively surprised. cosy restaurant, nice service, reasonable wait for food, all food tasting good, looking good and well presented. Very clean toilets, that is also a good sign of caring about customer experience. Just a tiny detail... donburi is served on a bowl (owan) not on a plate, but yeah, 5 stars to me. Unfortunately not a place we can go back every week but we'll keep it in mind.

Umami went far and beyond to make my daughter a fantastic sushi cake for her second birthday. She loves sushi and this sushi cake was delicious! Umami made the cake on a Sunday at a time when they would normally be closed. I'm very grateful. Thank you Umami!
