Lovely Italian experience pre The Palace Theatre to enjoy the Tina Turner show. Fantastic service, lovely and well presented and prepared food for all three courses.

We had a late lunch here today at Fumo for my husbands birthday. I wish we had never entered this restaurant. The service was extremely slow even though there were only 3 tables occupied. Our starters were ok, Cheesy Garlic Bread and Calamari, then it just went downhill. The pizza was awful, my mushroom risotto was cold and disgusting, lasagne was good but the worst was our youngest daughters Spaghetti carbonara. It arrived cold and dry. She couldn't eat it so we asked our waitress to get it warmed up with some sauce. After waiting for a long time she arrives with the dish. It looked lovely but our daughter said it tastes disgusting. My husband and I tried it and she was right. It seemed as though the sauce was just raw egg mixture poured on top of it. She left the dish. The waitress made no comment when my husband complained about the food and she saw the mushroom risotto and Spaghetti carbonara plates still full. My husband paid the bill in full as he didn't want the experience to ruin his birthday. But, it did. We expected better of this restaurant.
We have eaten at Fumo before and can highly recommend here for lunch or dinner. This time we had dinner and all the food was exceptional well cooked and served, with a real authentic Italian feel. With marble table tops and linen napkins it’s a really lovely upmarket experience, which is supported by great service.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Fumo Manchester, thanks in large part to Will and Ginevra, who went above and beyond to make our evening special. From the moment we were seated, both Will and Ginevra greeted us with professionalism, warm smiles and genuine friendliness that instantly made us feel welcome. Their attention to detail was exceptional — from making sure our drinks were always topped up to checking in at just the right moments without ever being intrusive. They both managed that perfect balance of professionalism and personality — friendly, attentive, and always smiling. They’re a real credit to Fumo and made our visit one to remember. Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be back!
Thought I'd try this place as I love all the other San Carlo restaurants, safe to say this place didn't disappoint either. The food was excellent and I definitely would visit again, even maybe over the main restaurant. The decor in this place has a really nice atmosphere, it is very modern which is something that makes their other venues feel outdated almost. They also had a DJ which was cool and provides good vibes. The location on Oxford road is also handy.
The food is really delicious! The mushroom risotto is one of the best! And the red sauce pasta is good as well. And for the sweets, the creme brulee is wow!
Compared to San Carlo Deena gate is less in service and quality of food. Location is great. Rest rooms needs to be cleaner. Service was slow although restaurant wasn’t crowded. Yet still better quality of Italian food.
The food at Fumo is great and barely overpriced based on that alone, however it is let down by not only the service and lack of space but the toilets which are consistently dirty as if they were never checked by staff at all given the hours in between visits. Service was hurried and with incorrect dishes announced when brought to the table. The spacing between tables was non existent with our party of 6 cramped in to a corner that should have been at a maximum 5 people. Whilst I understand the need to, post covid, attempt to have as many covers as possible to claw back money, the whole experience is severely underwhelming and borderline terrible. Chicchetti (located within House of Fraser) offers a far better experience should you have the choice, with better staff and the ability to try a far larger array of dishes. This is a let down for the San Carlo brand.
