I was quite excited to dine at Erst given all the positive reviews. I have to say the while experience was overall ok. Firstly the cocktail menu is lacking with no more than 4 or 5 choices. None were overly unique. For the food, 1) the grilled flatbread was quite tasty, 2) the green chilli complemented the beet dish well, 3) the hogget chop was also good but mostly fat in the dish and very little meat, 4) the halibut was bland, 5) finally the ox tongue was just ok. I might have dined on a night where the menu wasn’t as appealing. The service could have been better as well, we asked twice for our bill and ended up waiting over 20 mins to finally get it and leave. You are expected to order 2-3 dishes a person to be full therefore it ends up being expensive to eat there and in my opinion not worth it.

Our favourite restaurant we’ve been to in Manchester. Waiter was so so good forget his name, and the lady on the phone who kindly managed to get us a table very last minute and was very accommodating. Went a while ago but felt the need to make sure to leave a good review. Amazing wine, brilliant simple food, lovely restaurant overall

Fantastic experience like every time. Wine is always excellent, menu changes all the time - but all the dishes we tried this time were great. Tuna carpaccio was our star this evening! Flat bread with beef fat is a must. Great place to enjoy good and creative food and wine and have a good and relaxing evening. All recommendations.

Erst has been on the list of restaurants to try in Manchester forever and it did not disappoint. The dishes were packed with flavour, decent portions and good quality produce. The servers were friendly and attentive. We came here for our birthday and the servers spotted that and put a candle on our dessert. If you can, try order one or everything so that you get the full tasting experience

I've been to Erst many a time. It's my treat to myself, somewhere I can go for an exquisite lunch and fully indulge. Today I took myself for my birthday/Christmas treat. Lee recognised me from having been before and was warm welcoming and as well the staff do made me feel so at home. The food is exemplary as is the service. But to be in a city centre restaurant in the midst of the Christmas season on your own and still feel comfortable shows how accommodating Erst is. Truly my favourite restaurant in Manchester and beyond. Also the best mince pie I've ever had. Thank you Erst! Also it was mentioned what a lovely business it is to work for ❤️ in this day and age that speaks volumes

Enjoyable 1pm hungover Saturday lunch. My buddy went a tad overboard with the ordering however some of it is the nicest plates I've had in Manchester. Bring back the roast spuds. Staff are great too. Nice and chilled place.

I came here in August and should have shared my experience sooner! The service and food was excellent, again it's clear that the chefs here understand their ingredients and can get the best from them. God, how sweet and tender and sumptuous can chunks of beetroot become when cooked like this?! I can't fault any of it, the recommended wine choice was interesting and complimented the wide range of food flavours perfectly. I know this might sound sacrilegious, but the only thing I couldn't get was some "normal" bread to mop up the delicious juices and sauces from the various plates! I used to think "small plates" places weren't worth the money, but including a bottle of wine too, the price we paid (£90) between two, was great value.

A natural wine and small plates restaurant in ancoats definitely aiming at the higher quality end of the market. It's useful to have reservations for as it's popular. The natural wine selection is bountiful and have some absolute stars amongst them. Staff are attentive and helpful in choosing food and wine. The plates (possibly 3-4 per person depending how hungry you are) are well presented and very well prepared. The flatbread and meat dishes were excellent and dessert was outstanding. The dishes are a little on the safe side and the oyster sadly drowned out by the toppings. It's a good date location and a good place for the curious wine drinker.

I’ve been wanting to try Erst for some time now and it’s lived up to all my expectations. The food is unbelievable, each dish had a balance of flavours that is hard to come by. The staff are all very knowledgeable and attentive (I forgot my lip balm on the way out and they came after me to give it to me). Lovely atmosphere and lighting. Very fairly priced too. I will definitely be coming back.
