This was my 3rd time having Sunday lunch at the Claret Jug, I'm afraid to say my last. The place is lovely and the staff are very pleasant but the food is never hot, and takes forever to arrive at the table. It's such shame because the food could be so nice, but who wants to eat a tepid Sunday lunch. On my last visit we went with family at 3pm, straight to the table, good no wait, ordered reasonably quickly only 2 in a party of 9 having starters, rest of the party were happy to wait for main course, but deary me not if we'd know how long!!! After starters we waited about 50 minutes for the main course to arrive, what a let down, luke warm with nearly cold gravy. There wasn't one hot element in the whole serving. On to dessert, bread and butter pudding was fancied buy most, unfortunately it didn't resemble any bread and butter pudding anyone had before, it was terrible, it came with a covering of again luke warm custard. The rest of desserts chosen weren't much better. All of the party had lost the will to live when 3 hours, yes 3 hours later!!! we managed to get the bill.

The steak came out barely warm, couldnt even melt the (i think) prepackaged bits of garlic butter it came with. Was also overcooked (medium rather than medium rare). The caesar salad was some leaves with a meager drizzle of sauce. Considering the price being £36, and extra for butter, this is ridiculous. You can get a good steak for that price anywhere else.

Went for Sunday lunch, expecting to be in the hotel, but its in the golf clubhouse, when ordering the main we were asked what dessert we would like, I asked to decide later first warning flag. The lunches came they were at the best luke warm and the yorkshires were cold and rock hard. The restaurant manager came to check if all ok and I raised the issues, I was asked if I would like more gravy I assume an attempt to make the food appear warmer I declined. Would we like a replacement yorkshire pudding. I said would it be fresh not sat under a lamp no they are made early and kept warm, not what they advertise on the website again we declined, desserts were passable. In all honesty it was the worst Sunday lunch ive had and I could definitely make better at home. I would not recommend and we heard others complaining about cold food too.

MOTHERS DAY: had a lovely Mother’s Day lunch with my family. We had a round table by the window overlooking the course. We opted for 3 courses. We all chose different roasts. A good portion of roast meat and home made Yorkshire’s. A generous complimentary drink for the Mama’s on arrival too. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for looking after my mum & us. The decor is lovely, a relaxed bar area aT one end with sofas and dining area at the other side. Very nice space. Go the lower ground entrance and you are straight in. I went in the top and that is more of a function space

I will be submitting my review on Tripadvisor and reporting you to trading standards for the lack of disability access. I.E lift's out of order with no sigh's to inform the public..just ask the staff for a key..only to be met with rudeness. Not to mention the over priced menu. Won't be going back there anytime soon.

Very noisy. Full of male golfers, not another woman in there. Waited 15 mins to get served and ended up walking out and cancelled our restaurant booking.

Attended a wedding reception. The location is very nice and an ideal venue for a wedding. However it is quite expensive, we ordered 2 drinks on arrival and they cost over £10. The staff were very friendly but a little slow at times. A warm buffet was served and the food was nice. Struggled to understand what the DJ's on the disco were talking about most of the time.

Really good food, but shambles of waiting staff. Had to order our food 3 times before they remembered, took 90 minutes for us to get 5 dinners. I think unless they are doing a function, they don't seem to be equipped to just do normal dinners for people. Amazing views, good food, really cheap for where it is, but if you are in a rush, I'd avoid, but if you aren't, it might add to the experience.
