Lovely Sunday lunch. Treated my mum on Sunday. Got a pork and a beef dinner, came with all the veg but cauliflower cheese and crackling were extra. Really good quality food. Lovely attentative service. Would go back.
We decided to stop at this gastropub because we were passing by and it looked wonderful from the outside. Inside, it was just as charming, and I felt really uplifted. I hoped that the combination of a stylish interior, welcoming staff, and the overall atmosphere would be matched by truly great food – something on par with what I’ve enjoyed at The Elm Tree in Heath. The menu looked interesting, and with the prices set as they were, I expected dishes of a high standard. I also anticipated a great coffee, especially since it was served in beautiful cups. But sadly, I was quite disappointed. I ordered the melted cheese burger from the lunch menu (£15), and it turned out to be rather underwhelming – the bun seemed frozen and bland, the salad was minimal, and the meat itself didn’t stand out. It felt less satisfying than fast food, and certainly far from what I was expecting. The coleslaw had an odd aftertaste and came in a portion so small it looked more like a dipping sauce. The fries, however, were crisp and enjoyable – though very much in the style of a fast-food chain. The coffee was another let-down, especially served with just a small piece of rusk; at that price, I would have expected at least a piece of good dark chocolate. I did notice that most of the other guests around me were drinking beer or wine without ordering food, which perhaps says something. Still, all tables were reserved from 6pm onwards, so maybe I simply chose the wrong dish (and the wrong coffee) and should have tried something from the main menu, even if it’s twice the price. I’m not sure.
A wonderful gem located just off the A60 at Cuckney Crossroads. Lots of wonderful rooms to enjoy, the restaurant, the snug, the bar, the doggy friendly area and the superb outside area. Fantastic range of Cask Ale, Craft Beers, Ciders and more than enough spirits to put a haunted house to shame. The food, the food is something else, you must read all of the menus, as they have something for everyone. Sunday lunch, I'd definitely recommend booking in advance, as it can get busy, but they're are plenty of staff, and nothing is too much trouble. Cracking place
Very nice traditional English pub tooked away in the Nottinghamshire country side, not to far from the Major Oak. Well worth a drive over and like us have a fantastic Sunday Lunch. Great choices from the menu, not just traditional Sunday dinners. I opted for the Beef dinner and was not disappointed. Great value for money. Will definitely come again.
Met with my friend for a ladies that lunch meeting. Had pie, was lovely. Can't say anything bad about the service, food or atmosphere. The place was lovely, only down side was it was cold, had to eat with our coats on, we was sat beside the log fire but wasn't on, unfortunately
On arrival we were asked if we were eating, as soon as we said we were just having a drink the attitude was very frosty, and made clear that we weren't welcome and tried to make excuses regarding table availability. They reluctantly pointed us to a table I ordered drinks and went and sat down. The lace is very nice but the staff are rude. As soon as we finished our drinks the glasses were taken as if to time for you to go. I will not be going there again, and will not be recommending it either..
We hadn't booked but we were warmly welcomed, at lunchtime! The staff are warm and friendly and the food was very tasty! We had our dog with us and he was welcomed too. Great place, highly recommend and we will definitely return.
Exceptional good and service in a truly gorgeous place. They have improved the dishes too. The sunday roast sharing platter is worth every penny. Amazing will definitely return again.
