We came here a few times before Covid and then, weirdly, forgot about it. Which is a pity as it is the perfect dining pub. Anyhow we’ve rectified that today and been for Sunday lunch. The food was top notch, excellent roast pork and a beef wellington which was spot on. Flavours were great and assured presentation made everything look as good as it tasted (bonus points for the prawn cocktail in a basket of cucumber ribbons). Also the service, which can often let an otherwise good restaurant down, was faultless, perfectly paced and genuinely friendly. Go, you’ll love it.

The Elm Tree Pub was a great little place tucked away in what felt a bit like the muddle of nowhere. The staff were really nice, and the food was awesome! We came here twice, while we were on holiday, nearby in Bolsover. The first visit was a Sunday dinner, which was delicious. Following the generous meal, I had a lovely sticky toffee pudding with honeycomb bits. So good! On the first visit, we reserved a table for Afternoon Tea later that week. This also did not disappoint, and I was particularly impressed that with my aversion to fish, they made separate portions of non-fish sandwiches for me. The selections of cakes were really nice, and the food was, once again, delicious. The Elm Tree, on our visits, seemed to get pretty crowded relatively quickly, even in the middle of the work-week during the afternoon. As a result, the pub atmosphere does get a little louder for quiet conversation, and I would recommend making reservation for a table if you have the forethought (though we DID get a table for Sunday Dinner without one). It was a wonderful experience, and well worth the visits!

Had a lovely evening at the Elm tree last night. The food was amazing, the best meal we have both had in a long time! Staff really friendly too. Just perfect! Thank you to the hardworking chefs and the rest of the team!

Food amazing as always. Service and friendliness was great always making sure everything was okay. We were a big group and meals were brought out all together no waiting around. Katie was our server and was very helpful.

We went for an afternoon tea and had a delightful experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the decor has a lovely vintage charm. The tea was freshly prepared, beautifully presented and tasted amazing. There was also a great choice of different teas to choose from.

Had a lovely family get-together here on Sunday, 12-02-23. There were about 15 of us. They gave us our own private room upstairs, the library. To be honest, I would have given the venue 5⭐️ but their vegetarian options weren't the greatest. I don't know why, but places always assume that vegetarians like mushrooms. So, every vegetarian meal was mushroom based. I couldn't think of anything worse. Please consider doing a nut roast or something instead. For starters, I had deep fried brie and cranberry, which was so utterly beautiful. It was melt in the mouth fantastic. The dessert I had was ginger creme brulee it was delicious. The ginger was just enough. Not overpowering in the slightest. Our servers were absolutely lovely too. Would highly recommend going here.

We went on Christmas Eve for a 5 course meal. Just fabulous! No other sticky toffee pudding will ever live up to this one. The staff are very well trained and a credit to the management. Perfect in everyway. 10/10

Passing by its deceptive; appears to be a small village pub.. but its like the TARDIS inside. Friendly welcoming staff and nice atmosphere... At first glance meal pricing seems a little steep for a local bar, but the quality is outstanding .. This place is more than worthy of its 5 * rating given... If there was a 6 it would have had it .. Big Well done to all the Staff of the Elm Tree... Highly Recommended

We had to travel up to Yorkshire and picked this place to grab a bite to eat on the way back home. A nice rural country pub, nice decor, staff friendly and helpful. Food was good, my only gripe was the pie could have been bigger or maybe a slice as opposed to an individual pie, otherwise all good.

Lovely accommodating staff! Booked a table for 7 and were placed in the barn which was lovely although it was a walk outside then into the main bar area to the loos. Nice Sunday lunch and the bottomless gravy is a bonus. Amazing Yorkshire puddings and great that there’s no extra cost for the cauliflower cheese although it wasn’t the most luxurious.
