We visit this restaurant at least twice a year on visits to Bakewell. Yesterday unfortunately the service was appalling and the quality of food poor compared to previous visits. Breaded Brie bites over cooked and hard. Fish and chips served with soggy batter and hardly any fish inside (in was mini portion admittedly but for £12 expected a little more). The chips were burnt! Inedible. Yes we did complain but the waitress either didn't understand or didn't want to. We should have relied on past experience as usually at lunch time on market days you have to wait for a table but restaurant half empty but other cafes and restaurants nearby had queues and we had to wait half an hour between starter and main course. Won't be coming back

Myself and my partner went for a lovely afternoon in Bakewell with the dogs and decided to have lunch at the H Bar and Restaurant. We were all pleasantly welcomed at the door and offered refreshment whilst we were left to look over the menu. The food was fresh and well presented, My partner had the mini fish and chips and I selected the halloumi burger, the fish was fresh and the home cooked chips were very tasty and the burger was delicious, after our meal we decided to move to the outside tables to enjoy the sunshine and finish with dessert and coffee, the staff were friendly and attentive, the whole experience was excellent and definitely good value for money, I look forward to a return visit.

Firstly I have to say the staff seem nice, but I have to focus on the food. It’s more expensive than a top restaurant in central Manchester for a Sunday dinner but it’s terrible!! I’m not exaggerating, it’s really basic frozen food kind of stuff. At a whopping price of £18.50 you really expect something TOP quality with lots of different things….. but Wetherspoons does a better / fancier roast. The veg looks like frozen / bagged veg you buy at the supermarket and you just get 1 small piece of broccoli, cauliflower and a few carrot sticks. A scoop of mash, and your meat or a soggy cheese and onion pie. The vegetarian option is worth no more than £10. It looks like it’s all come out of the freezer and just straight into the oven. Really really disappointed and in a time where we are all struggling for money, I feel pretty cheated out of £18.50! I don’t know how you can justify it with the lower prices other restaurants charge and the much better quality / portions of their food as well? Would not recommend the food , don’t waste your money.

What a lovely find... highly recommended for cake and hot drink. So welcoming at the end of the afternoon. We had to try the Bakewell pudding.... beautifully presented and was delicious.

Stopped off while out for a cycle ride for breakfast. What an amazing spot! Sun trap outside seating or bi-fold doors and sit under cover. The breakfast was amazing, produce all locally sourced even the brown sauce was special (non of your HP crap). Service was excellent, coffees arrived in minutes and breakfast followed shortly after. The restaurant is right in the centre next to the pedestrian shopping street and a short distance off the Monsal trail. A great stop off point. Thoroughly recommend this place.

The food was exceptional during my visit in January, but I returned this week and clearly they have forgotten the concept of seasoning food. The woman who seemed to be the manager, was stagnant, cold, and was a fluster, even with a quiet breakfast service. If you're gluten free, do not come here. They say they have gluten free options, but upon ordering, no food was available. This was not restaurant level food. Disappointed.

The service was good and the lady very helpful and friendly. The burger and chips was over priced and below par. The meat was compressed, dry and flavorless and does a dis-service to farm produce. The bun was extremly dry and fell to bits. We sent both meals backs.

Having been refused service elsewhere by a rude owner we walked into this place to a really warm welcome. We chose a seat and made our choice. We had 2 of the best cappucinos we have ever had. Piping hot and really tasty. We chose a piece of Bakewell cake, well when in Bakewell.... The slice was fresh and really big, tasty and economically priced. We loved the place. Whilst we were there another 9 people came in all having a drink and cake and all were saying how good it was. 4 of them were also chastised in the previous cafe we had all tried and whilst this place was modern staff were great and the quality superb.

Been here twice for brunch now and found it very relaxed and pleasant, they only serve breakfast till 11.30 but we got in at 11.40 and after asking the kitchen they said they would do us our poached and scrambled eggs after the curfew was imposed lol. Why in this country eggs cannot be poached after a set time in the morning and the lunch service has started is beyond me !! Anyway no complaints here...food great, service quick and smiley...only complaint was that coffee Americano's could have been stronger..most coffee joints tend to err on the watery side...if its made strong water can always be added. We didn't complain as the brunch was so nice and they had stretched the brunch hours for us...so we'll done and we'll definately be back.

Popped in to avoid the rain. Wish I hadn't. Rude staff. Awful coffee clearly no trained barista. £8.50 for a beef and horseradish sandwich on cheap supermarket bread with missing horseradish. Beef was overcooked then drowned in Bisto to compensate. Partners pork sandwich didn't look much better to be honest.
