   Original Review : Food excellent, most staff great, management terrible. Additional details following directors response : I appreciate your reply and I agree that this is a difference of an opinion and nothing more, so I am happy you are able to add that - to which I do not disagree. You noted that it was unfair of me to criticise without the facts so I am adding here. I wasn't upset, but I did feel let down at the time, we value local business and contribute often to it, which it why I felt let down. As a gesture of good will and to your overall view of long term revenue, I hoped that the deposit could have been taken into account of the total bill as it was just 1 person out of 9 who was sick and unable to attend. Taking into account our previous and ongoing custom, I hoped that the loyalty would have enabled that and would have resulted in 8 happy customers. However to reiterate my original point. The food was excellent as always. Note - if there would have been an option to rate food on the star rating, it would certainly have been 5/5

   Very disappointed! Manager was dismissive ,unhelpful and unaccommodating!! having had our meal we then tried to pay the bill, the waitress only deducted £80 off the bill, however we paid £90 as the original booking was for 9. On pre ordering our meals the group reduced to 8 as a family member was poorly , so only ordered 8 meals. We spoke to management who said he was unable to sell that reservation and lost money ,and refused to give us the £10 back .I would have understood if we ordered 9 meals and then said the 9th person was not coming on the night but we never ordered 9 meals.I know it’s only £10 but it’s the principle ! WILL NOT RETURN AND NEITHER WILL ANY OF OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!!!!!!

   Perfectly situated on Church Street right across from the church. This is a real gem! Top cask ale selection and delighted I was able to choose a glass of bubbles in the pub :D Staff are friendly and service is quick. We were pleasantly surprised with the menu in the dining room. I went for the recommended Red Thai Noodles and hubby, the chicken and chorizo linguine. Both were outstandingly delicious! We chatted to some of the friendly staff and discovered that everything on the menu is made from scratch. Being a foodie myself, I was well impressed. A quirky little hotel with comfy beds, plenty cupboard space, a telly and a great hot shower including complimentary toiletries. Added to that, we indulged in the continental spread for breakfast, with a wonderful array of freshly baked pastries and croissants, sour dough bread, jams, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, juice, cheese and cold cuts. Even salmon and cream cheese bruschetta! All included in the price of our stay! And of course Great coffee. I wish I had taken more photos. I highly recommend you give it a try. Staycation all the way....

   We stayed there last night and we're spoilt. The beer selection was great. So nice to see proper cask ales. The food was top notch. Great menu and superb local, quality ingredients. Thanks to the staff for being so welcoming and providing excellent service to is. Definitely coming back. Thank you

   I believe that this is a hidden gem. ( The restaurant). We have been looking for somewhere local to enjoy a breakfast. We made a telephone call and Lewis answered and was really helpful booking us into the restaurant for breakfast and advising of local car parking we could use. When we arrived we were greeted by Lewis who showed us to our table. We ordered breakfast which was excellent in both quality and value for money. I think it would always be worth a phone call before arrival to make sure you avoid disappointment? This was a very pleasant experience for an early Saturday morning breakfast. Thank you to all involved.

   This is the second time we have stayed at the Kirkfield. Although this most recent stay did not include breakfast, last time we had breakfast and it was lovely. The first time we stayed, it was around Christmas time and there were lots of parties going on. Trying to sleep was a little difficult. This time was very quiet and we got a good night's sleep. However, the walls are quite thin and you do tend to hear what people are watching on the TV next door. The bed was comfy, the shower was good and the service was very friendly. We would stay again.

   Firstly I would like to thank the absolute delight of a lady who looked after us at breakfast time for such a personal and warm next level of customer service. Our reason for staying wasn't a pleasant one yet she was a breath of fresh air. The rooms were lovely, I would recommend the suite and both breakfast and dinner was spot on. I hope to return here under better circumstances. Thank you all so much at the Kirkland.

   Best hotel/restaurant in the area. Located perfectly next to the train station, the staff are friendly and attentive. The rooms are clean and smart. The food in the restaurant is exceptional. The hotel was fully booked recently and I therefore had to stay somewhere else, however I still came to eat dinner here! 10/10

   Lovely casual lunch today. Food is delicious. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. Prices are great. No complaints from me!
