Well , unfortunately I can't recommend this pub for food ! Booked Sunday lunch for 7 adults at 2 pm. Took a while to get our order taken. It was a sign !!!! We ordered the roasts , I ordered a roast but NO meat, but with a portion of cauliflower cheese. I didn't want the vegan option. Waiter seemed to know exactly what I wanted. He tried to price out the items. I said don't worry I'll pay for the roast. He came back and asked which gravy I would like , I said the vegetarian option. At no point did I say I was a vegetarian! 5 roasts came to the table , that had meat and 3 roasted potatoes on it, and a burger meal. My meal didn't arrive , nor did the vegetables!!! 10 mins later the vegetables arrived. Eventually my plate arrived with the vegan pattie dolopped on, which I had specifically said I did not want when I ordered! I said to a different waiter that I had asked for just the normal roast without the meat ! He was confused rude and dismissive ,my daughter helped clarify!!!! He went away and came back with the same plate. He said the chef said that is " the best I can get !!!! "I asked for the manager . Unfortunately I didn't get her name , but she was brilliant! By this time all the meals were cold , not even warm. The manager dealt with the situation and spoke to the chef . We opted for new meals that was going to be another 20 mins. It was now 3:20pm. New meals came hot and tasty. But , my daughter's chicken was pink verging on red !!!! She explained to the manager, and she apologised again The manager arranged money off the meals. When I went to pay at the bar. I explained I would not be paying the service charge, when she asked why ,I explained what had happened. She said that then the "money would not go to her either and she had smiled at us !!" A tip was given to those that deserved it. It was not the chef !!

I so wanted to give this place 5 stars. The food was outstanding - genuinely excellent. I work in the world of fine dining restaurants and the food had great depth of flavour, was well presented and (bar one dish) was a decent portion size. The waiting staff were absolutely lovely, personable and attentive. We had a variety of dishes and everyone of our group were extremely content. Unfortunately, there was a significant wait for the food. This happens - it's Sunday lunch, on a busy Sunday. But it still took longer than I'd consider normal, a couple of hours for three courses. Also, a minor gripe, but the portion size on the squid, was very small, 5 smallish pieces in a small bowl with some veg, but against that it was beautifully flavoured and presented. Finally, it's not a cheap meal out, for the high quality of the cooking perhaps it represents ok value. So, a slightly mixed bag, albeit I'd absolutely visit again for the high quality of the cooking.

It's been a while since I'd eaten at The Red Lion. I was excited to return, as I've always enjoyed the food and the riverside setting is stunning. It's was a bit rainy when we went, so we sat in the lovely restaurant area. It was 5pm during the week, so it was quiet when we arrived. We were served by a few different members of staff during our meal. The service was friendly, professional and attentive. It's a great menu with good choice (without being to big). The starters were all delicious, and they also have a choice of bar snacks, so my son chose the croquettes from that part of the menu. The mains were also great. Generous portions, beautifully presented, all delicious and made with quality ingredients. Our children wanted desserts, so my wife and I, although very full, shared an apple tarte tatin. It was amazing. All in all, an outstanding meal, and a big step up from normal pub food. A lovely NZ sauvignon blanc at a reasonable price too! Highly recommend.

A nice pub by River Thames. We just had a drink and sharing snack. Itβs quite busy under sunny day but the waiter was helpful and offered us a table indoor though we opted for a table outside across the road. Itβd be better if the beer/drinks could be cooler. Parking on site but quite full.

Location by the river is awesome, food was good. But the service was just bad. When we arrived to the riverside we had to clear a table because all empty tables were covered in classes and dirty plates. We watched three other tables do the same thing. Then when I paid and ordered at the bar, I only discovered they charged service when I asked for a itemised receipt. I didnβt say anything, as i wanted to give them a chance. But we sat outside for 1.5 hours and not one person came over to clear the dirty tables, only one girl came delivering food to us and one other table. She did not clear one thing off any other tables on each visit. This pub needs to do some serious team training, itβs really let them down. I was refunded the service in the end, and I hope that the manager can make some improvements to fix this.

Had a great experience and time at The Red Lion. The manager was at the door and asked what type of atmosphere we wanted seating by the pub or more relaxed setting in a quiet part of the pub. We picked the later. The setting was very well lit, clean and had the perfect vibe for a family supper. Victor, the head waiter served us and he was spot on. Really top service from him. Extremely friendly, professional and helpful. We ordered the chΓ’teaubriand done medium and the got it done perfectly a delicious cut of meat paired with the black pepper sauce and aioli it really complimented the meat flavours well, the onion rings were light, crispy and well seasoned and potato chips had a good crust and fluffy on the inside. The burger was delicious, patty was done medium and they again the chef cooked it to perfection. The burger is up there with the best I have had. Portion sizes were good and everyone was extremely happy. Compliments to the chef and staff again. Some photos below. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Phenomenal for a Sunday roast. We got a cute little 6 seater private room to sit in outside. I had the lamb rump which was beautifully tender, some crisp roast potatoes and veggies with of course a Yorkie. They also have seating right by the river for a great view and the service was attentive and friendly!

This is a really nice pub set on the river bank, great if youβve a boat and want to pop in for a pint or lunch! There is a busy-ish road that divides the river garden from the pub but donβt let that out you off as they have a mini-bar on site to serve you. Just keep an eye on kids. We just had a couple of pints today but the drinks list is fairly extensive, Iβve also eaten burgers here in the past which have been nice. I didnβt use the toilets on this occasion but they were fine last time. Thereβs a small but ample car park to the side of the pub as can be seen in my pics. Be careful when exiting as thereβs often people crossing and cars whizzing by all at the same time!
