You won’t regret booking here! My family live locally and in the past two months we’ve been going around some of the local restaurants on a Sunday to find our favourite. Today was roast number 6 and we have ranked this number 1. The plate was full but not overloaded, it the perfect amount. Everything was really tasty. The kids meal was amazing, our 4 year old ate it all. Our server James was super polite, efficient and really friendly. Thank you to him for making it a nice experience.

We held a party here last weekend on the first floor, we were so impressed with the function itself, the scenic views and beautiful interior. The food was absolutely incredible and we received so many compliments by our guests - Especially the lobster and crab croquettes, which I will personally be coming back for as a platter to myself if they’ll allow! The team were incredible, Ludvik, Kat and Elizandra were so helpful, polite and welcoming. Hattie was all of that and so much more, she took all of the stress away from hosting a party and I’d highly recommended her in the future! Thank you for such an amazing evening.

Visited last week. The lamb roast was very good. However, the food never seemed to be very and almost cold. The meat certainly was cooked to perfection. The gravy was quite good. The vegetables were also cooked and had excellent texture, colour and seasoning. After having to wait so long for mint sauce, I was slightly offended that I was charged for an additional Yorkshire pudding. The colleague was sincere in her apology for me having to wait for my mint sauce. The mint sauce was made in house and was very full bodied. It lifted the flavour of the lamb brilliantly. The atmosphere was quite nice. Despite the food not being very hot, I would be willing to try this again.

Five-Star Review for The Magpie – A Perfect Wedding Reception! We recently held our wedding reception at The Magpie, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The venue itself is beautiful, welcoming, and full of character – but what truly made the experience exceptional was Kat, the events manager. From our very first meeting, Kat was attentive, organized, and genuinely excited to help us bring our vision to life. No detail was too small, and she handled everything with professionalism and a personal touch that made all the difference. Her calm and friendly presence throughout the planning process (and on the day itself!) helped take all the stress off our shoulders. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the atmosphere, the food, and the seamless flow of the evening – all thanks to the amazing team at The Magpie. If you’re looking for a venue that combines amazing food, great service, and an outstanding events manager, we can’t recommend The Magpie highly enough. Thank you, Kat, for making our special day unforgettable! We can’t wait to return for the next party!

Kat was an amazing waitress. The PIMMs was great and really fruity tasting, and she saved our bacon by rejecting at the bar the first poured glass of Prosecco for my partner before it was even served, which has only just set at half filled at first. We appreciated that touch!

The barstaff was very friendly, even let us taste test what was on tap. The food was incredible! Highly recommend stopping in for a pint and the camemberet. Yum!

We visited twice on one evening. The first time we had a bottle of white wine and the barman was happy to let us try a couple of samples. We ordered a lovely bottle of white wine. The second time we popped in for Baileys and red wine. Again the same Batman who was super helpful and friendly. He is half Italian.. what a credit to you.

Great position and service but the burger, for £15, reminded me of a school dinner. Hand full of chips and tiny burger...at least make the plate smaller. My mate wasn't too impressed with the BLT either.

Lovely aspect of river frontage. A good old fashioned British pub offering a decent menu well cooked. Very good friendly service too. Good value and worth a visit as plenty of parking opposite. Not good for limited mobility as steps to access and interior area on different levels

Lovely old fashioned pub. From sitting outside looked like some beautiful spaces inside. From the Riverside garden it looks like a function room up some very pretty spiral stairs. Was on the bicycles so went in through the side gate. Very friendly person waitressing. Had a cappuccino each. Really nice place to sit for a break in the ride.
