Attended the packet steamer with kids last week for what I thought would be a decent bite to eat. Took a while to get acknowledged walking in. My daughter ordered sausage and mash which was tiny, chicken burgers x 2 for my sons was basic but edible, and my own meal was a lasagne which was again measly. To say the value for money and quality of food was poor would be an understatement. To the point we paid the bill, left and had dessert elsewhere. Place needs an overhaul at the higher levels on delivering a decent food experience, its so poor and well on the way to closing if it carries on this way.

What a waste of £136!!! After hearing so many great reviews about The Packet Steamer, we thought we would come for tea for my Fiancés birthday with the kids. Must say I’m not a bit impressed. Considering we bought main meals for the kids, it was a burger with 7 chips…. LITERALLY 7 chips. Also asked for no salad and it came with it all on, my daughter ordered the pizza which was absolutely tiny, 4 tiny little slices is not enough for a portion. Me and my Fiancé ordered the sharing mix grill while our eldest son got the single… the single actually has more food for half the price!! £50 for a sharing mix grill that has about the same amount of food for the £21 single grill is a joke. We kept asking for refills on our drinks and only 1 glass actually got done. Safe to say we won’t be coming back here again. How other family members come here regularly is beyond me. I would happily go to Vikings Landing or even Copper Pot than waste my money here again. Word to the wise… don’t waste your time or money on food in this place, it’s a joke. So glad our family of 5 came here for my Fiancés birthday and wasted £136!!

My wife and I had not booked a table but after being greeted with a smile, we were shown to a table. Absolutely spotless and felt so at ease here while having a drink before our meal arrived. We both had a mixed grill which was lovely in every way and will visit here again. Each member of the staff were so nice and pleasant and I would highly recommend The Packet Steamer.

2nd visit : Excellent hospitality from Lisa J . She kept checking up making sure everything was ok and if I needed anything. Bit upset that had to book on. Asking at the desk she said nothing she could do. Never gave me any options eg. Would you like to book for later or come back in a bit just palmed me off. So I left and booked for 8:15pm. Other than that it was good food was nice. Shame about no cookie dough available 2nd time now month apart.

I want to start this review by saying I couldn't recommend this place more. Lovely service and very nice decor and feel to the place. The food was delicious, the staff were the friendliest and so professional!! We originally both ordered the chicken burger, unfortunately it came out quite black and burned although the chicken inside was cooked perfectly. I brought this to the attention of our server and they returned it to the kitchen. 5 mins or so later the floor manager came over to inform us that the chicken burgers had been prepped incorrectly and to share his deepest apologies that they could no longer serve us chicken burgers. Instead we opted to substitute our order with the beef burgers, not much time later we were served with two very delicious double beef burgers, fries and coleslaw. All perfection and very tasty! The sauces are their very own brand and they taste spectacular. Upon paying the bill the floor manager informed me he had knocked the price of a burger off to apologies for the delay in service andbeing unable to provide the chicken burgers. I had to decline and ask that he add it back on as a tip, I couldn't in right mind take a discount for that level of service and quality of food. This is the level of service restaurants aspire to, we'll definitely be back again, and hopefully next time we can have the chicken burgers, I bet they're delicious! Lastly, the speed of service is fantastic, from walking in the front door, all of the above happening and then leaving to catch our cinema film, we were only there for about 70 minutes max! Thank you Packet Steamer staff, you're wonderful!

Had an amazing meal, portion sizes were great couldn't finish what we'd been given, excellent value for money! Staff were warm and welcoming and Cheryl who was looking after us was great, so positive instantly made you feel better, atmosphere was quiet as we'd got there not long after opening time, really cosy place. Only issue I had was when I went to the men's toilet the cubicle was a mess of course I can't really blame the business for this as it was a customer who had left it like that, I couldn't take a star off for that tho as everything else was perfect! Will definitely be returning.
