Ambience is great. But the food was one of the worst I have had. It looked straight from the supermarket. We couldn’t finish even one dish that we ordered. The price was too much compared to quality of food. The service charge was already added in the bill, still the machine had a default tip of 13% which we had to manually remove. Overall do not recommend this place.

Excellent service from Maria (my previous review has gone so apologies if her name is not Maria) she was attentive without being over burdening, we had many tasty cocktails and shooters. We had visited as an off the cuff birthday, mainly for the cocktails tbh. The food was nice, the drinks great, the atmosphere amazing, the service excellent. Even when the birthday cake came out, which I hadn't expected. As an impromptu evening it was great and I look forward to returning with a larger group.

The Sutton-Cheam area generally doesn't have a great Mexican scene (though I have reviewed a Mexican restaurant next to Sutton station) and to the extent that El Desperado addresses that gap, it is good. The food menu itself isn't unique and the dishes are average. However, the service is very good and the atmosphere is very 'Mexican', if there's such a thing. All in all, it's a good place for some comfort/familiar food and drink at a reasonable price.

Really nicely decorated place, good drinks and super lovely waiting staff! However apart from nachos and mega plain quesadilla my taco place and my husbands fajita were really bad. It really felt we got quantity over quality. I rarely write negative reviews but especially my tacos were tasting super bland despite being super juicy. It kinda felt like the chef just thrown mini conserved, store bought vegetables on a pan and then into another store bought taco shell. I think waiting staff is very well aware of how bad food is cause they were attending my table quite often asking: “how’s the food”. Neither me nor my husband had guts to be rude but genuinely we both made better Mexican at home. Really a shame, cause they could be very unique in South London where there is little of good Mexican food.

Went for a birthday dinner with my girlfriend on a Monday evening. Really peaceful vibe with chilled out music and an excellent dinner (loaded potato skins, chicken and beef fajitas, desperado bbq mix grill). We've had it before and will definitely order again! Lovely friendly service and they even treated my girlfriend to a happy birthday wedge of chocolate cake! Haven't been since pre-covid and so glad this little gem is still there!

lovely service and atmosphere but the food wasn't hot and parts of my wrap were stone cold, also it wasn't at all spicy so if your looking for Mexican food don't go here.
