Served by the lovely Gill, very pleasant evening before cinema trip. Lovely food and service. Recommend the steak sizzler.

I’m not usually one for writing reviews, but after today’s visit to The Baker’s Dozen, I felt it only fair to share my thoughts especially for those who might’ve been put off by one or two of the more negative comments floating around online. My wife and I came in for a late lunch with our three grandchildren (ages 3, 12, and 14). I’ll be honest I nearly gave it a miss after reading a less-than-glowing review on TripAdvisor. But I took the time to read a few more, and it became clear that the earlier complaint came from someone expecting fine-dining standards from a good, honest pub. That’s not what The Baker’s Dozen is about and thank goodness for that. What we found was a clean, welcoming, and well-run place, even though they were fairly busy at the time. We were greeted promptly and seated by a polite young man I believe his name was Andrew who took the time to explain things clearly. He mentioned that during quieter times, you can seat yourself, but since it was busy, we were shown to a table. No fuss, just straightforward and helpful. He also told us we could order through the app instead of queuing at the bar, and even offered to help me with it if I needed. That kind of service goes a long way in my book. He even gave our youngest grandchild a coloring sheet to keep him busy a simple gesture, but a thoughtful one. The food was just what you'd hope for from a proper pub hot, tasty, and well-priced. No corners cut, and no complaints from any of us. The place was clean, the staff were polite and professional, and the whole afternoon was smooth from start to finish. I’m glad I didn’t let that one bad review put me off. Had I listened to it, we would’ve missed out on a very enjoyable family afternoon. We’ll definitely be coming back again same group, same smiles. If you're someone who values good service, decent food, and a clean, welcoming pub atmosphere don’t hesitate. Highly recommended.

We were stopping off for food ahead of a long journey and this was just the thing. Glad we stopped as it’s really appreciated to be greeted and served by someone so polite. His manners were so genuine. It made us realise how it’s not often seen - anyway his name was Tony, I I had to tell him it didn’t go unnoticed. The server was also lovely - thanks for lovely service

We were served by a lovely Scottish lady she couldn’t do enough for us engaged in conversation with my little boy too. Such a relaxing atmosphere. Food definitely value for money and tasted lovely, most certainly be back again soon.

Seeing the reviews, me and my partner where unsure whether this hungry horse would be enjoyable. But showing up and meeting the staff, having the food abs the experience was actually pretty nice than expected. Food was fast, alright to eat and the staff were really friendly. The burgers where good and had loads to them.

We popped in for a lunch after a bit of shopping and ordered a burger and a curry. The food was really nice and excellent value, but what made the experience even better was the very helpful and friendly staff serving us. One lady in particular called Laura who went above and beyond, always smiling and nothing was too much of a problem. Will definitely visit again

Bakers Dozen hungry horse....... i think its called the hungry horse because you wait forever for your food. ordered 3 x meals chicken & chips, fish & chips and scampi & chips...... we waited over an hour for the food to come out, the scampi wasn't cooked and the fish smelled funny my wife didn't eat it. we looked around and it seemed no-one in there was actually eating everyone was waiting for food. Really disappointed because this place is right on my doorstep so really wanted to like it but I definitely won't be coming back. The manager did refund us for my wife's fish meal. Edit in response to the response from the owner. Thenkyou for reaching out to try and resolve the issue and asking me to call you. The issue we had with the meal had already been resolved by the manager ( blonde lady with glasses) she was very helpful and understanding of the issue and offered a refund on the meal. We were not wanting a refund and would of had something else but the fact we waited an hour for the fish and chips to be cooked we didn't want to wait for another hour so decided to take the refund. So there was really no need to call you. All the staff were great especially the manager and dealt with the problem.

First rating I gave was 5 stars as couldn't fault it. Yesterday however was a disaster, ordered half a roast chicken, thought it looked a bit odd as I have never been served roast chicken without Crispy skin. First bite was stone cold tested it with my finger and the whole chicken was ice cold. The waitress couldn't be more apologetic even though it has nothing to do with her . She gave me back 9 pound even though the meal is 11 pound on the menu. I was offered another main course for free so ordered a burger , my partner had finished his meal there was nobody left in the pub ordering food they'd all been and gone , 25 minutes later still no burger ( it didn't even take 25 minutes for are main course to come out when the place was busy ) 30 mins gone I felt sick now and not a soul came over . I jst got up left and went to mcdonalds instead.
