We visited at short notice and decided to dine and stay over as our travel plans changed. We really enjoyed our stay and the Sunday roast. The quality of the food was excellent and served hot. There was great live entertainment on too. The staff were attentive and professional. We will definitely return again soon.

I visit the Wirral regular as visit family, however I have never been here and booked last minute. The rooms had everything you needed, the breakfast was of good quality, however what stood out the most was the welcome of all the staff we made contact with. From the guy to checked is in, the guy who served us our drinks to the guy who served our breakfast to the guy who we checked out with. It was a mostly male team but all very friendly professional and accommodating. Thank you for making our short visit a good one. We will return

Truly great base in friendly well run pub. Accomodation well deserved the 4 star inn visit England rating. Staff welcoming, rooms clean spacious and a good size. Recommend and will return. Food and drink offerings good too

We recently visited the Jug and Bottle in Heswall for Sunday lunch. We made an online reservation as we expected it to be busy and were glad we did as it was indeed quite lively when we arrived, though there was a nice welcoming atmosphere. The gent behind the bar greeted us warmly and before long we were shown to our table by a friendly waitress. We ordered our drinks which arrived promptly and soon placed our food order. We chose the Sunday roast beef with side options of cauliflower cheese and a stuffing wrapped in pancetta, along with a chicken burger and fries. After a reasonable wait our food arrived looking appetising and thankfully tasting just as good. One of the roast dinners had fewer vegetables due to personal preference but it was a little disappointing that no extra roast potatoes or carrots were added in place. After enjoying our main courses we decided to share the glazed lemon tart which looked and tasted excellent. It was a great way to finish the meal. It is worth mentioning that parking can be a bit limited, even the paid parking nearby has only a few spaces available. Overall we really enjoyed our visit. The team were friendly and attentive, the food was very good and the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant, with even the live music from the other side of the bar adding nicely to the experience.

Had a lovely nights stay. The room was average, but comfortable. Only issue was the view looked over the car park. The car park was pretty small, but managed to get a space after waiting 15 mins for someone to leave. Food and service were great. Staff were lovely. Not far from the town centre for shops, cafes etc.

Went with my sister and brother in law for late lunch. Lovely surroundings and atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the lemon meringue cheesecake was so delicious that I had to finish it even though I was full!! I would definitely recommend the Jug and bottle and look forward to visiting again.

Am really surprised by food comments as I've been few times and to me it's below par. It's definitely not home cooked that day. To me it's generic pub grub . It's very expensive too. It's a lovely place with very nice staff. I think some people are so used to bisto gravy and oven chips that decent food cooked from scratch is beyond them. Sorry if this is harsh but I'm fed up paying a lot of money for glorified, average food. Will not return.

What a lovely place. Went there for lunch and it was superb. Highly recommend the mushroom tagliatelle. Fresh, flavoursome, perfectly cooked. Excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and attentive and importantly, you didn't feel rushed which is an increasing trend in restaurants today. It's a lovely building with comfortable surroundings and parking. Definitely a place for a treat.

First time here for a Sunday lunch, and really couldn't fault it. The food was very tasty and plenty of it. Puddings if you can fit one in, are gorgeous. The service was excellent too, always a genuine warm welcome from Andy and a lovely bubbly young lady serviced us with a warm welcome as well. The atmosphere here is a friendly one, always is. Dog friendly too, we had 2 dogs with us and greeted with a cold bowl of water and lots of cuddles.... Team Jug and Bottle, keep up the good work.

Went for lunch here with my hubby. We had the nut roast which was delicious and I highly recommend. Great atmosphere, efficient friendly staff, the number of diners is a reflection of how good the food is and it was very very busy. We finished off with a delicious dessert. Really nice place to eat.
