“Lovely little restaurant. Never knew it was here. I must have driven past it a thousand times. My wife read the reviews and booked a table midweek. Very glad she did. This place is a little gem. Excellent food and very friendly staff. Food came promptly, and needless to say, I didn't leave a thing on the plate. We'll be back with friends. PS. Love that the mains come with rice so don't have to order the rice separately.”

“We came here as a group of 7 for Sunday lunch. Alice was attentive and explained the menu to us. The lunch menu is really good value for me and the portion sizes are good. There's parking around the streets but they aren't far from rhe restaurant. We'd come back here as there's lots to try on the menu.”

“I've never been compelled to write a review before, but this place deserves one. I've never had so much meat in a curry before, fantastic value. Great taste. 3 onion bajhi, instead of the usual 2. Best curry I've had. Only 4 stars for atmosphere as it's early , so a bit quiet.”

“If only all pizzarias were as good as this. I rarely have pizzas as I feel they are poor value but the one I had here was amazing. Service was friendly and prompt. The base was the best I have ever had and the topping was sumptious. The ingredients were so fresh and good quality I ate it all - I usually take half home because I had got bored with it. Not from this place. Definately going back”

“The service of I think it was Sam (what a gentleman) and Libby (or Vicky?) the Night managers, was fabulous, they were lovely and helpful when I called and then turned up in the middle of the night after a household emergency. The room (44) could have done with with a little maintenance, maybe it was because I was a last-minute booking, but varnish peeling off doors, and various other little things that could be fixed in a day; carpet due for a refresh too. No plug near bed to charge phone - probably good for my health but not convenient in the circumstances. Breakfast was nice over at the pub next door and good value with the Premier Inn deal. The server there was lovely too. Conclusion - room could do with a touch up, but service was excellent, give these employees a bonus!”

“Ordered several pizzas for a party on Saturday. Dan couldn't have been more helpful. We were understandably told that the pizzas would be ready within a 30 minute window but in fact they called me bang on the time we asked for. Piping hot and every last slice was eaten.”

“This was our first visit for my birthday. It's a lovely stone cottage on Heswall main street, yet set back off the road. There are outside tables too, though, for when the weather is nice. The staff were welcoming and helpful and we could see the chefs in action and all was calm and clean in there. The food was well presented, different and very tasty. The portions were a nice size - not too big, which I can't stand. I want to enjoy, not gorge.”

“We had a lovely afternoon at Isabelle’s having afternoon tea. They accommodated us with a same day booking (should be at least 24 hours) & we got all of the afternoon tea menu. Thank you for whipping up a batch of meringues, they were delicious and very much appreciated.”

Food was beautiful, the vegan steak was an amazing experience!! & the Nutella calzone was heaven on a plate , lovely atmosphere, all The team are a credit to the restaurant watching them they were lovely to all the diners. we had Jake & young lad from lpool branch (sorry didn’t get name) were fabulous, naturally attentive ( not forced ), will definitely be eating regularly there. “Always choose Otto when want to eat in Heswall. Here is a couple of reasons: - it’s dog friendly! - Huge Gluten free and vegan menus. People with intolerances/allergies will find something. Stuff is very helpful when choosing something safe. - Great atmosphere. Always according to the season.”

“We stumbled on the Black Horse by accident whilst we were walking on the Wirral Way during our recent stay at Wirral Country Park. What a find! . The host and staff were extremely friendly. We stayed for Sunday lunch and I can honestly say that it was one of the best roasts I have ever had. We would wholeheartedly recommend this pub.”
