Love this pub! Come here all the time - located conveniently next to the bus stop and the scenery is so pretty. Staff are lovely and always welcoming and I always enjoy their food. Would recommend for sure!

Lovely pub, very nice bar staff, lovely chairs to sit on..... Great beer, we will return to try the ploughman's meal. Wonderful people with wonderful flags.

Here, just in the centre of the village of Downe, we have the most lovely country pub you can imagine, with a good range of real ales, an amazing garden out back with several different areas, a delicious and affordable food menu, and just a short walk away from Charles Darwin's house. What more could you want. It's situated right next door to the village church, which is where the hourly TfL bus 146 from Bromley terminates, and the R8 also calls. Definitely worthy of a visit in itself.

Stopped by for a quick drink, first visit. Really nice pub with lots of history. Located right in the centre of Downe .Friendly welcoming service, although of three members of staff only one knew how to make a Pimm's. Nice choice of drinks, reasonable prices. Nice cosy vibe to the place but could definitely use a bit of TLC, especially the beer garden, which in summer would be a huge draw since the only other pub in Downe doesn't have much outdoor seating to speak of. They do have a food menu but we didn't stay to eat so can't comment on the food. Overall a really nice place to visit, I just hope they smarten it up a bit without losing the character.

I found the spot charming in a great place for dinner. As a bonus, I got to meet the pub owners and their lovely new puppy. I went there twice on my trip and had the fish and chips then the sausage and mash. Both of them were very good.

A nice Sunday Lunch after a stroll around the scenic surroundings that Downe has to offer, cosy feel pub, with a big open fire to warm up beside, lovely food, good value for money, and pleasant staff, all washed down with a glass or two of wine!

Very friendly pub and great staff. Popped in by chance and not disappointed. Sausage & mash (great tasting sausages and worth 5 stars) and a prawn baguette (would have liked the choice brown bread).

What a charming pub and a charming owner. The pub must be about 500 years old and as the character to go with it. It has a decent menu and the bottle of Rioja that we purchased complimented our delicious meal. So, the Salt & Pepper Squid I had as a starter was scrummy, if not a trifle over cooked. The Rock Fish & Chips I had as a main (You can see my theme here?) was tender and beautifully cooked. A few more chips would have been welcome and perhaps another choice of peas... mushy, puree. Will most certainly be going back there.

Had a wonderful Sunday afternoon meal here. Excellent food and excellent service - lovely, friendly and helpful waitresses. Would thoroughly recommend the nut roast - the best one I've ever eaten!
