Really xcellent service from the staff at Chung Ying. They were friendly and attentive and really looked after us, even though it was a quick meal before theatre. This is the only Chinese restaurant we go to as well as excellent food and service, appear to be the only one that takes card payments.

Huge menu, with two pages plus of vegan options. Extremely good good food. The portion sizes are enough to share, so either make this your main meal or have it family style. We come here every time we come to Birmingham.

A great little restaurant in china town. The service was efficient and prompt and the drinks and food came out in good time. Great tasting hot food. We sat out in the terrace which was like a nicely done up garden verandah with lights and fans. Great all round

Honestly impeccable. The staff was nice and attentive. The food was SO good. They have a very large menu with set menus, vegetarian options and more. The Mango Pudding we had for dessert was a bit too simple but definitely recommend all the rest. We shared a starter, got a main and dessert for around £20 pp.

I had pork noodles, my wife had crispy pork with rice alongside Wanton Soup. With pepsi as the drink. The drinks were great 500ml in tall glasses. I liked my pork noodles, the portion is massive and it's best in buffet. I had to take it back in a doggy bag. The crispy pork was lovely too. My wife thought the wantons in the soup were not seasoned enough and it did feel.like this. The service was good and felt quick.

Food was good. But the waiters were extremely rude. The 10% mandatory service fee was charged and honestly i was not happy at all with services to pay for the tip. If you are looking for a better experience with Chinese food there are plenty of places around with the same quality and better service

Vegan options available for dim sum and dishes. Be careful as there are some vegetarian dishes listed with the vegan options so it's worth double checking when ordering. We got some steamed buns with egg yolks inside that we weren't warned about. There's often offers on dim sum between set hours of the day so worth asking or checking their website when planning your visit. There's also a gluten-free menu if that is important to you.

Excellent restaurant as I found out the nearest you can get to culture if you are from HK. Dim sum 20% off 1-5pm per weekday. Rook some pictures as in what we've ordered that day. Nice lunch. Cash payment preferred.

Chung Ying has been the culinary centre-piece of Birmingham's China Town for as long as I can remember. It look's awesome from the high street. Pundits rate it as one of Birmingham City Centre's best restaurants. Is it any good then? If there is hype, I have high expectations. When I was seated in the outdoor portion of the restaurant I began reading the menu. This consisted of 4 sheets of A4 paper with a long list of popular British Chinese menu options. I felt underwhelmed. Service was at a gentle pace, humble. Food was served piping hot, cutlery was arranged in the classic British Chinese way. If you do want drama added to your experience I would recommend ordering a sizzler dish. The quality of the food was excellent. The presentation was ok. Portions were good and value was excellent. Chung Ying is traditional and social. For me, it was less about the food and more about the old fashioned experience. It made me reminisce about the "good ol' days" enjoying Cantonese food with family,

Nice restaurant to enjoy some delicious traditional Chinese Dim Sum and other main dishes. We came on a Saturday for a quick lunch, service was very prompt, food arrived hot, staff was very friendly. Only disappointment this visit, was some of the food wasn't as good as before. But we still enjoy coming and would recommend coming for some tasty food.
