We bought sausage, bacon ,chicken and steak . Everything was delicious and I don't usually eat sausage. We'll definitely call again when we're in the area.
Went to Lishman's expecting great things. I had "The Rolls Royce" of sausage rolls. The pastry was wonderful but the sausage was unseasone and had no taste. My wife had a brisket sandwich. The bun was good and most of the filling OK, but the brisket was smoky. My wife had a cornflake cake which was delicious but my apple turnover had very little apple and no cream. We bought pork pies for the next days lunch. Pastry was good but the filling was small and completely mashed with no texture at all. Very little jelly. Overall: Good pastry. Poor fillings.
I’ve been a retail customer for years and wholesale customer for the last 5 years. Not only is Lishman’s incredible in terms of its obvious quality, I’ve genuinely never had a single thing that’s been anything short of fantastic. The entire team are absolutely brilliant. Everyone from staff in the shop itself, to those that deliver our wholesale orders and everyone I’ve ever spoken to on the phone. Thank you all! You are very much appreciated!
I am a massive foodie and this establishment has blown me away! It was my son’s 17th today and he was getting a new pc so wanted to stay at home. I wanted to make his day extra special and as he adores cooked breakfast and as he doesn’t have one very often, I thought it would be a fab idea. I live in York and he’s eaten local lovely butcher’s produce all of his life so I wanted something different to stand out for his special day. So I got myself googling and I discovered Lishman’s. I was so seduced by the awards, the Himalayan rock salt window, the concept of the black bacon and the black pudding from the 1920’s butcher’s manual - I am the marketer’s dream! I made my special trip across the excited to buy and also keeping my mind balanced and thinking ok don’t get taken in my the hype and try and taste the produce objectively! Well the shop is immaculate, top notch and stunning and the staff were everything and more re what I’d read in other reviews - friendly, knowledgeable, going above and beyond saying if I needed to know anything then just ask - a fantastic experience and I got a posh free carrier bag into the deal! I know some people are anti-packaging but for me the pre-sealed items were such a convenience - coming across on the Wednesday, I thought I may have to freeze my fresh buys to defrost for the Sunday but no - they were packed for freshness and had fabulous dates on them so no freezing required! I actually got the black pudding (300g), six Cumberland sausages (son’s fave variety) and eight fat-trimmed thick black bacon rashers all for about £14.50! Today I portioned up and froze what we didn’t eat so we have lots more delicious breakfasts ahead! My son and I unanimously declare the produce to be the best of its kind we’d ever had and my son said that the bacon flavour reminded him of smoked bacon crisps in the most positive way! His plate was clean (excuse the badly placed cutlery in the photo) and he enjoyed the menu that I’d typed out for him with all the descriptions of Lishman’s and the other bits! I will be back soon to try the fillet steak and I’m considering getting our Christmas order from you! I didn’t find the price too much at all and thought it was fair, directly proportionate to flavour, ambience of shop and level of customer service received! I shall not hear a bad word about this fantastic place - it is nice to give praise where it is due - 100 out of ten from us!!

I first ordered our Christmas meat from Lishman’s in the lockdown holidays of December 2020, when we wanted something a bit special to try and make up for not being able to see family and it did not disappoint in any way. Delicious Turkey Breast very well prepared and fantastic Ham (+pigs in blankets). Fast forward 2 years and we’re now on our 3rd Lishman’s Christmas, which I went to collect today, and will be serving up for extended family in a couple of days time. Shop has had a refurb since I last visited and it looks great - picked up some pies and cheeses too, as well as a fantastic sausage roll I ate on the way home. This is definitely a Christmas tradition we’ll be keeping up, I just wished I lived closer so I could visit more regularly! Thanks for the great produce, keep up the good work!
Excellent hot sandwiches best I have eaten in a long while. I had the roast pork and stuffing and my wife had roast ham. Both had lots of filing in them. The staff very friendly and helpful making me feel like a valued customer even though it was my first time there. Will be going back next time I am in Ilkley.
Simply the best ham and bacon i have ever eaten. I have bought multiple times now and cannot imagine a time when i would not want to. David and Emma both are two of the nicest most professional people anyone could meet. I cannot recommend them or their products high enough.
