They say you can you choose your friends but not your family. It’s a shame you can’t chose your customers. This place looks great from the outside, very inviting. You enter the ‘pub’ and it doesn’t disappoint. Excellent, friendly service, a great selection of beers and the prices are something to smile about. So why the low score? Simply the clientele. I walked through the door to be greeted by someone using the ‘F’ word. I’m no prude, I swear, but I use it in context and at a volume that won’t offend others. The swearing continued, I got the ‘F’ word, the ‘C’ word and everything else, each sentence that dribbled out of his mouth like uncontrollable diarrhoea provided offence. All while discussing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Home Alone. The main culprit, we’ll call ‘Dave’ (as that’s probably his name), had a mouth like a sewer. The final insult was as I left left he managed to extract the Micheal out of me as I walked out of the door! Happy days indeed….. Would I come here again? Absolutely as long as ‘Dave’ baked his head in an oven. If ‘Dave’ continues to be allowed to rule the place then I’d suggest you avoid it at all costs. No amount of great service or good quality ale will compensate for the atmosphere one individual can create. My advice to the owner is, don’t let your customer’s dictate the type of place you run. The customer is not always right. ‘Dave’ you’re a t*%t.

A lovely little micro pub, the owner is friendly. The beers are always changing, so you never get bored of trying different ales. The place is dog friendly.

ridiculously good small bar. it's got a real 'pub' feel, no tv screens, and quiet music. it probably only holds 30 people or so. no food, but crisps and some great pork scratching available. staff were friendly and helpful. 3 beers on tap (Salopian 'hop twister', Lancaster IPA, Kirkstall 'Dissolution') were all kept perfectly, so the cellar staff clearly know their stuff. small selection of bottles and no cider that I noticed. the quality of the Salopian, however, meant I didn't really care about anything else! well worth a visit, and I'm very glad it's reopened after all the problems of this last 18 months.

Probably the best pub in Stalybridge. Bit of character. Great selections of beers. Friendly staff. Clean and safe from a covid perspective. Also well located in the town centre. Got a view of the local hills and canal if you're sitting outside. Highly recommended.
