On previous occasions I have been very happy with getting my bike serviced at Halfords. This time around there was a problem and I cannot be absolutely sure whether it was my fault or something left by Halfords. I picked up the bike after servicing, in the evening when it was dark, and I started the cycle ride home. I soon became aware of a rubbing sound and that the ride was not smooth. Since it was dark and I had not brought any tools with me, I foolishly continued the ride, guessing that the brake blocks were a bit out of line and needed adjusting. However, half way home, I had to dismount the bike and I noted that the front tyre was flat. Was it flat when I picked the bike up from Halfords? I did not notice if it was. But the other possibility is that I picked up a puncture very soon after leaving Halfords. I am not very happy that I paid a lot of money to get the bike serviced (due to several major items needing replacement), and immediately the bike needs serious attention for some more maintenance. A little while after the original post, I have just increased the star rating on this review. With my having replaced the inner tube under that flat tyre at home, I booked another free bike check, wanting particularly to know if that tyre was in reasonable condition or if it too needed to be replaced. Lacking confidence in the tyre, I walked the bike to Halfords for that check. The technician identified, and showed me, that I had not seated the tyre properly. He let the tyre down, seated it properly, and reinflated it. He told me that in his opinion the tyre was in a fit state to use. I rode home smoothly, and later that day I was able to do a much longer ride (10 miles) again all very smooth. So I am very happy with the service that I got on that second bike check at Halfords.

Not very happy. I picked up a Wynn's cat cleaner priced at £8.49 off the shelf but was charged £11.99 at the till. I returned to the shelf and asked an assistant why I had been overcharged. She looked at the shelf price label and said it had been wrongly labelled as a cheaper injector cleaner (in small print) at £8.49 (in large print) but there was nothing she could do about it now. I said the offered price was misleading - something which Trading Standards would object to. She said they wouldn't do anything as the label had a different product printed on it. I said that wasn't fair to expect someone to read the small print and took a picture. Later I had a closer look - I shouldn't have taken her word that the price label was wrongly placed - the label matched the products behind it - but not the product I had picked up from that position. I went back there to solve the mystery. It seems that the correct price position and label was there but empty of product at the end of a lower shelf. The product I picked up had been incorrectly placed at the front of the injector cleaner bottles at £8.49.
Super easy ordering process and arrived 5 days sooner than expected. Great price also! As for the cable...... The quality looks far better than others I've seen and being British made is a bonus. Decent warranty as well!

Ordered a mobile phone holder from Macc store but when I collected it, the box had been opened already and the wipes/sticky pads had been used. Don’t expect a used item when charged for a new one. Couldn’t call the store, support suggested I had to drive back to the shop to sort it.
Excellent service. I was looking for mudguards for my new bike. I was very ably assisted by Dave at Macclesfield. He went 'above and beyond' in making sure I had the right ones and took the trouble to show me how to fit them. He even found me a different bolt to custom fit my bike. Thanks a lot.
I took my electric scooter in for a puncture repair to be told initially it couldn't be done before Christmas. I appealed to their better nature, and they said possibly in a week or so if they could find the time. I explained that i needed the scooter to help me with my mobility issues. They said they would see what they could do. Lo and behold 2 hours later i received a call to inform me that the puncture had been repaired! Fantastic news and thank you so very much. i would have been satisfied if it was returned in a few days but to get it back two hours later was fabulous. Thank you very much indeed and it was very much appreciated. 5* without doubt for my Halfords experience today
Despite numerous issues with trying to log onto your site in the store I had a most memorable visit. The young man on the till helped me out but he was unsuccessful in the end Peter sorted it out and fitted my wipers and checked my car over. Everyone in the store was super friendly and so caring and helpful. Thanks guys
