As someone who truly enjoys Chinese cuisine, I was very curious to try TANG, especially after hearing so many recommendations. Unfortunately, my expectations were probably too high. It’s a good Chinese restaurant, but far from the “wow” experience it aims to be. The atmosphere is elegant, and the wine list is excellent — extremely diverse, with options to please even the most refined palate. However, when it comes to the food, nothing particularly stood out. The dishes were fine, but none had that depth or flavour profile you would expect from a restaurant of this level. Service was acceptable, though not impeccable. I did experience a rather unpleasant incident — while carving a duck, one of the waiters accidentally dropped a piece on his shoe and then placed it back beside the duck before taking it to the kitchen for the next course. Completely unacceptable for a restaurant of this standard. Overall, TANG is decent but overrated. If you’re looking for truly remarkable Chinese cuisine in London, Hakkasan still remains number one in my opinion.

I don’t often give a venue a top rating but China Tang has been so consistent for so many years that it deserves the kudos. One can safely judge a restaurant from the quality of its ablutions. It does not disappoint! The bar is cosy and the staff attentive. The restaurant is vibey and yet, the acoustics allow for conversation. The duck is the coup de grace and has never disappointed. Remains one of the few Mayfair venues that hits all the traditional values associated with fine London dining.

Nice Chinese restaurant. I enjoyed the main course more than the starters; the dumplings could have been better. Lovely place with good service. I expected the food to be a bit better, but it wasn’t bad at all.

I'm not a big fan of Chinese food, but it was late and I was so hungry, so we decided to try the hotel's restaurant. Unexpectedly, we loved everything we ordered. However, we wanted sea bass, which was already sold out, so we came back again after a few days. We weren't disappointed, and everything we ordered was nice.

We visited this place for my mums birthday. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, besides the crispy beef which hardly had any beef in there at all. For such a fine dining place I did expect the service to be better than normal however it was very very slow and we had to ask more than once if we needed anything. Which was quite disappointing... halal options available

Come for the duck and stay for everything else. All dishes were delicious, service was impeccable (attentive and polite). Atmosphere was chilled allowing us to have a great time with our friends. Mea - crispy squid, prawn toast, crab sweetcorn soup. Peking duck, black pepper beef, chicken cashew nuts and braised aubergine. All perfectly cooked, delicate and full of flavour.

The prawns and scallops here was very nice and I’d say is the highlight dishes of my night. My friend really loves the pork belly and Xiao long baos here so that’s his highlight as that was the whole reason we dined here. Morning glory is cooked and flavoured nicely here.

I came alone for lunch. So, can not order many dishes. The foods overall was great. Dim sum was good. Fried pea shoots (Dou Miao) with garlic was really good. The supreme fish maw soup was excellent. Strongly recommended. Services was very good as well.

Some of the best lamb, beef and squid I’ve ever had. I ordered from the halal menu which had many options. Superbly delicious food in a comfortable, tastefully appointed environment. J and his colleagues provided incredible service for my anniversary meal. Many thanks!
