We chose Hutong at The Shard to celebrate my father-in-law’s 70th birthday, and the experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by smiling hostesses who immediately made us feel special. When the servers learned about the occasion, we were pleasantly surprised with complimentary champagne, a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the afternoon. The service throughout was delightful. Our waiter was polite, knowledgeable, and attentive without ever being intrusive, striking the perfect balance. The food was exceptional—every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, with the beef being a standout: perfectly cooked, tender, and incredibly juicy. The ambience was spot on for a celebratory afternoon. The atmosphere felt sophisticated yet relaxed, and the live DJ was brilliant. His music selection complemented the setting perfectly and added to the experience without overpowering conversation. Overall, Hutong provided a memorable dining experience and a wonderful setting for such a special milestone. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate and would happily return for another special occasion.

I had a great time hosting a private event at Hutong in late October. The views of the Tower Bridge, River Thames, and city skyline from the 33rd floor of the Shard were simply stunning. The atmosphere was elegant and sophisticated, setting the tone for a memorable evening. The food was outstanding. The Peking duck was a highlight, with a fantastic table-side carving that really stole the show. The spicy chocolate tart with mandarin sorbet was a hit with my guests, and all the dishes were beautifully presented. I have to say the cuisine exceeded my expectations. However, the service and overall experience didn't quite match the food and views. Despite prior communications and arrangements made via emails, our server didn't provide adequate attention, and didn't present my guests with the special menu crafted for this event. The wait times for cocktails were too long, and it was a shame not to be able to savor more of those delicious drinks. The table setup could've been more practical, too - the main dishes were served in big, heavy bowls that made it difficult to pass them around without a lazy Susan. I'm sharing my feedback in hopes Hutong can make some improvements. As someone who's had great experiences at Hutong before, I was surprised by some of the service gaps given their high hospitality standards. Despite that, I'd still consider coming back. The food and views were that good!

✨ A Phenomenal Anniversary Dinner at Hutong Shard – Perfection from Start to Finish ✨ We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary at Hutong Shard tonight and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, every detail was flawlessly executed, making it an evening we will remember forever. A heartfelt thank-you to our server Ayub, whose warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail elevated the experience throughout the night. He anticipated everything before we needed to ask, striking the perfect balance of attentiveness and elegance. A special mention must go to Restaurant Manager Rakesh Raut, whose hospitality was truly exemplary. He went above and beyond to make our celebration unforgettable — incredibly accommodating, gracious, and genuinely invested in ensuring we had the perfect evening. His presence and leadership set a remarkable tone for the entire dining room. We chose the Azalea course, and every dish showcased an extraordinary balance of flavor and creativity. Each course was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked — a true culinary journey. We also added the spicy fried rice and sweet and sour chicken, both of which were absolute standouts: bold, vibrant, and unforgettable. From the spectacular views to the impeccable service and world-class cuisine, Hutong Shard exceeded every expectation. It wasn’t just a dinner — it was an experience, and the perfect way to celebrate such a special occasion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five stars and our highest recommendation. We cannot wait to return.

I wasn’t impressed with the service at Hutong at all, especially with how much money you pay (+15% service charge), I get better service at my local Chinese restaurant. For a “bottomless” brunch the speed of drinks was underwhelming. Firstly, our starters were sat on the side waiting before our first drink arrived to our table, so some of our starters then ended up being lukewarm. We then had to keep getting the waiters attention to order more drinks when our glasses were empty. We then went our whole main course without a drink, which we ordered before the food arrived and then turned up when we had finished eating. I added onto the booking that it was my partner’s birthday, which the hostesses recognised, but the waiters failed too. The table next to us got a dessert with a candle in, but we got nothing, which I was quite deflated about as I had booked Hutong and a hotel nearby specifically for my partner’s special day. I then got really upset when it came to paying! Again, I had to get the waiter’s attention to bring the card machine over, my boyfriend was in the toilet at this point so I was sitting on my own, the waiter came to the table, held the card machine over my shoulder, I couldn’t even see the amount on the screen, I tapped my card and he walked off. He didn’t ask how our meal was, nothing, just took my £240 and walked off. I was really angry, especially considering I had just paid the 15% service charge despite the service lacking, to then be met with utter rudeness was infuriating. Overall, the food was nice but nothing to be desired, the cocktails were delicious, but unfortunately weren’t flowing like other brunches I’ve been to, and the service was very poor for a “fancy” ( & expensive) restaurant in London. I feel like they charge based on the view, which is amazing, over the quality of the food and service.

We celebrated a friend’s birthday here at Hutong in the Shard. We opted for their Sunday brunch menu and boy was it worth it. For £60pp there was unlimited starters, a main each and side dishes to share, with a dessert each to end the meal. Everything was cooked to perfection and the combination of dishes made for a wholesome and satisfying meal. There were options to have bottomless drinks packages, but we decided to have some tea instead. The staff were attentive and super friendly from the time we stepped in through the doors of the Shard. Making us feel so special throughout. They even sang a happy birthday song at the security check and my friend was surprised with a beautiful birthday cake at the end of our visit. We were utterly stuffed by the end of the meal. All in all a superb experience.. the view.. well that’s stunning in itself, especially from the best table in the restaurant and on a clear and sunny Sunday morning.

Six of us met up for a Christmas lunch and we had a great experience. The food was delicious, fantastic service and with incredible views. Some great selections of food and we opted for the signature set menu, which provided a good selection. The Peking duck was particularly tasty, flavourful and moist. The wine selections were plentiful and remember it’s London so don’t be surprised by the prices. Really nice selection of cocktails - I particularly enjoyed the “Comfortably Numb” one.

Definitely for an occasion. We went for our 4 year anniversary, booked a month in advance so we got a table by the window. View was amazing. My boyfriend didn't like his first dish, complained about how dry it was and was quickly replaced by the rib dish. Service was amazing, food was delicious and so filling. Will definitely go again

Our experience was lovely! Our waiter Marcel was very kind and answered any questions we had. We were cautious about our spending as even though this was a special occasion as we're students but the prices weren't as bad as we were expecting. Our two mains cost £15-20 each which we shared and we also purchased a starter for £10. We weren't too fussed about purchasing drinks or dessert. We were lucky to get a table seat and a complimentary birthday dessert! The food was good but not the best we had eaten (but the vegetable rice was incredible) - was mainly there for the beautiful view. The overall restaurant is very pretty and was dimly lit for ambiance. Only downside was we were sat next to a very large group who were very loud - I wish the bigger tables for many guests were more sectioned off? The other side of the restaurant was very quiet but we didn't want to risk losing a table view. In short, it's an amazing experience but I wouldn't come here very often, only for special occasions. Also, we asked to get the service charge off and they kindly agreed.

There was nothing I could complain about here. The service was excellent, the food was excellent, the view at the window table was excellent, the ambiance was excellent! You won't regret going there. The food portion was more than a belly full! You should try the fried lobster, also the monkey business cocktail was a hit! The staff was really friendly and was very transparent when it comes on to the menu. The starter (vegetable roll and shrimp roll) was like a meal itself as it was so filling and tasty!

Experienced the food here a couple times, a bit pricey but well worth it. Great flavors and the cocktails are nice as well. Plenty of staff around and very attentive. The view if you’re fortunate enough to get a window seat is a huge bonus. Make sure you book well in advance.. will be back soon.
