Honestly the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had, and I don’t say that lightly. I went to Mrs Chew’s in Westfield with my girlfriend expecting something decent, but the food was genuinely shocking. The duck was the main problem: the skin still had visible pinfeathers sticking out — those stiff little spikes where the feathers used to be. I’ve never been served poultry like that in any restaurant. It was honestly unpleasant to look at and instantly put me off. I even took a picture because I couldn’t believe it made it past the kitchen. On top of that, the food had a strange stench the moment it hit the table — something between boiled tap water and that “rain on the pavement” smell. It wasn’t just one dish either; even the sweet and sour sauce had that smell, which honestly ruined it. The noodles and most of the meal tasted like they’d been reheated or left sitting around. Nothing felt fresh. The only thing that tasted fine was the prawn itself — just the prawn, not the sauce. Everything else was extremely disappointing. I usually finish my girlfriend’s food after finishing mine, but this time I couldn’t even get through my own plate. That’s how bad it was. For a restaurant inside Westfield, this was far below what I expected. I really wish someone had warned me beforehand, because this was genuinely one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The situation is so bad that this is my first ever negative review — I have never had food so bad that I felt the need to write one. This experience has actually pushed me to start posting reviews about places I’ve been to that have been good as well.

Never a dull moment eating from here. Ate for the second time and kung pao chicken is delicious, chicken fried noodles are saucy with generous portions and a generous amount of chicken. Vegies are fresh and crispy. Absolutely recommended!

Yummy halal crispy roast duck (not boneless)! Great halal chinese spot in Westfield Stratford. Have an array of dishes. A very popular place as always has a small queue. Food took around 10 mins to arrive. Roast duck is with bone - still very delicious just a pain to eat with a knife and fork. The only con is you cannot see the menu unless you are in the queue - which is always with people. Menu needs to be located in a better place and out of the queues way! Roast duck with rice cost £13.95 Food is halal.

Terrible food!! I've been here so many times and now it totally not worth coming back again. The roast duck is sooooo fat and you can see the thick fat underskin. Some pieces are also smelly like a duck's nest. Also very hard to chew.

TLDR; too busy and too few staff means that food is inconsistent and frustratingly long wait times. I’ve been to Mrs Chew’s a few times now and every time the experience has been different . The food in general is decent but everything else, from portion size to level of service to waiting time, is entirely up to how busy they are. The restaurant is in the Stratford Westfield food hall and uses a buzzer system. Convenient but what Mrs Chew’s staff don’t tell you when you order is the waiting time. Today I had to wait 25mins before my food was ready. Very frustrating and I would not have ordered if I was told this upfront. The portion size was also ridiculously small (see photos) compared to my other visits and with other people collecting orders at the same time. It’s clear that they cook the same dish (fried noodles in this case) in batches and quickly portions them out. I’ve got no problem with cooking in batches but during busy times, this seems to result in some customers being short changed. Overall a very frustrating experience, especially given this is restaurant from the food hall where convenience and value is what most people expect.

Food is halal. No pork or alcohol served. They do have a certificate. I expected it to be good because its by the same person behind Rasa Sayang. Dumplings were really good as was the rest of the food. A little on the salty side, but that's fast food for you.

Tried this place out after seeing it on the Westfield website. Ordering is clear and you are given a little buzzer for when the food is ready to collect. Ordered prawn crackers, wonton soup, with prawn & chicken dumplings and beef dumplings. It’s not immediately clear where to collect the food so you have to walk around a bit. Collected the food from the collection area only to be told the prawn crackers need to be collected from the order area - bit of a strange one, which affects the experience. Prawn crackers is a good portion and tasted fine without tasting spectacular. The wonton soup is fine although a bit light on the flavour. The beef dumplings were not great, however the filling was lacking and really could have been filled better with more flavour too. Overall, didn’t leave the best impression and a little expensive considering the portion and quality of food. Hopefully, the standard will improve,.

Had chicken fried rice and roasted duck with spring rolls. The rolls were good but really small. The duck was ok, 6 out of 10, but the chicken fried rice is a never again. It's hard to mess up this dish. The chicken was extremely dry and needed soy sauce to eat and the vegetables in it seemed over cooked with a bad after taste. Staff are very friendly. Overall priced for the location and will try a different dish next time.

Great halal friendly Chinese food. Try the dumplings in chill oil! And the char siu chicken is a must. The fruity lychee drink is also very refreshing!

Wish I'd read these Reviews before trying. Food is pretty poor. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was passable, although short on actual Chicken. Their "Siew Mai" (I always thought the were called Siu Mai??) were truly awful! £6 for 4 horrible little pieces of junk. When I was sat down eating it, I spotted a Wagamamas upstairs, I wish I'd gone there instead. Avoid, there's better places to eat
