Still one of the best Japanese restaurants in London, have been coming here for more than 10 years. Food is always high quality, consistent and delicious, menu has a lot of variety, service is attentive and staffs are polite. No one in London makes phenomenal tempura like theirs, and we’ll miss the sushi chef who’s retiring after 44 years of service. His hiramasa sashimi is simply art and display of his knife skills, his sushi are always glistening and inviting.

Once again, join in with my wife for a quiet lunch at Ikeda on Thanksgiving Day. The Barbecue Eel lunch set, chicken teriyaki ,Green Tea ice cream are all excellent, and the service is also adequate. Top quality and one of Japanese Restaurants in London.

Best place in London to get authentic traditional Japanese food. Opened 54 years ago - one of the first Japanese restaurants in London, and still going strong. Space is intimate & relaxing (tastefully decorated with interesting artwork). The owner Ken is also friendly & professional. Would highly recommend a visit.

This was my second time here and I loved it. If you want something special, definitely come here.

The most authentic Japanese restaurant in London that my family loves! As Hong Konger in London, we have high expectations on Japanese food but it always let us down here in London. It’s definitely not a cheap restaurant but it worths every penny u spend. Attentive staff, good ambience, fresh sashimi and nice food. We all give a thumbs up, including my picky teenage children. Will surely recommend it and revisit. Our teenagers ate a lot yesterday and that why the bill was a bit pricy.

I went four times with different friends and we were very enjoyed everything about Ikeda. There have fresh Japanese food, the service of the girls staff was very nice. I posted more pictures and more than once on my social media about Ikeda. It was a really nice restaurant. But today I am very upset and disappointed. Today, My friend didn't have an allergy before we made the reservation. Suddenly, he had an allergy before we comes. We still didn't cancel the reservation, because my friend and I both like Ikeda food very much. When we entered the restaurant, the girl staff saw that my friend had tears and then she offered us a box of tissues. After a while, a man who looked like the manager asked fiercely: finished? Immediately took the tissue away. I tried to explain that he wasn't listening and left immediately. So I had to talk to another girl staff, and my friend really needed tissues because we didn't want to get tears and snot all over the flax napkin. She was very understanding, and she brought us box paper tissues for the second time. After a while, the male manager came back and said the box paper tissue were for all the guests, not on our table. I told him we didn't pick it for ourselves, it’s your girl staff gave it to me because my friend had allergies. Without answering me, the manager left immediately. He didn’t listen to me again. Before I left, I tried to communicate with the manager again, I told him: can i give you some feedback please? I am very satisfied with the food, I have been here four times. The food in this restaurant is so delicious and fresh. Every chefs is an absolutely brilliant cook. The staff girls smile very bright, very considerate service for us. But may i know are you very unhappy about we use a little the box paper tissue? I don't understand why you didn't ask me any reason and treated us badly three times? He told me he didn't know why we needed tissues. I said maybe you should have talked to your staff before you took it, or maybe you should have prepared one more box paper tissues to put in a public area, rather than leaving without figuring things out and not listening to me. I didn't even finish my sentence. The manager just said: OK, fine, sorry. And then he left immediately again. I would like to ask why the male manager is so rude for us again and again? Everything was extremely amazing in the ikeda but the manager's behavior was not worthy of his position. All the girls staff were very nice, and the manager was the downfall of the restaurant. Ikeda follows the spirit of craftsmanship. Looking for preciseness and perfection, devoting yourself to work, strong patience, endurance, loneliness…all these qualities come from the 'craftsman spirit'. I still appreciate the craftsmanship of Ikeda, I admire the chefs and I love the staff, but I won't come back because of the male manager. What he lacks is a basic respect for people.

Sat at the bar and watched the chefs preparing dishes in front of us. Highly recommend the Assorted Sashimi which is of high quality and can taste the freshness. Also, The Unaju (barbequed eel on rice) sauce was freshly cooked which blends the soft eel and chewy rice very well. However it is quite pricy when compared to other authentic Japanese restaurants in London.

I was blew away by how authentic the food was. The quality and the service were impeccable. Love every dishes we had. It was my friend regular place, according to him the food has been consistent throughout the years. You will not regret any dish you have ordered.

The freshness and flavour of all fishes and sea food was the highlight of the experience. I’ve ordered only two dishes: pork belly as a starter (great choice, tasted divine) and sashimi as my main. I had a delicious peach sake for dessert as they only offer ice creams for dessert and I didn’t feel like it. The restaurant is small but doesn’t feel particularly intimate, the decor could be improved. Lovely waitresses, extremely polite and attentive. I took one star as I should have received a 20% discount as I had booked my dinner online for 17:30 last Thursday and this was conveniently “forgotten” by the staff. My mistake not to have reminded them before paying.
