Right. So I found myself in need of a sit-down and a hot beverage. So I popped into the Cafe Nero at New Street. You know the one. It’s near the big electronic sign where people stand looking up with their mouths open, like goldfish that have just remembered a pressing appointment. Ordered a Flat White . Lovely. Absolutely lovely. The young girl behind the counter had the gentle, caring eyes and she did the whole business with the machine: hiss, gurgle, splutter ( like a robot having a nice dream) … and the coffee? Smashing. Top drawer. It arrived with a little pattern in the foam. Looked like a happy badger, or maybe a squashed fern. Either way, it was a work of art. Warming. Felt the old spirits lift. “Alan,” I said to myself, “this is a triumph.” Nature, however, began to whisper. You know the whisper. The one that says, “Alan, we need to check out the plumbing”. So I ambled off to the facilities, feeling at peace with the world. Ah. The toilet door had a sign. A little printed note, stuck on with what looked like a weary sigh. “Out of Order.” AGAIN. This wasn’t my first altrication with this particular cubicle. Last time, (two Tuesdays ago, I think it was) … it was the same story. That sign is starting to look permanent. So there you have it. The coffee is great. Properly great. Warms the heart and puts a spring in your step. But the toilet!? … the toilets have entered a period of prolonged spiritual retreat. They’ve gone to find themselves. They’re on a pilgrimage. It’s a place of high joy & profound mystery. You leave refreshed in soul, BUT contemplative. Very contemplative, about the location of the nearest public convenience. Onwards & Upwards!

I travel around a fair bit, but I usually find myself in any cafe I can get my meddlesome paws on, and usually cafe neros hence me writing this! At new street station, I wanted somewhere warm to reside in as 'tis the season, and I'm glad I came in here. The staff were in lovely spirits, and I want to give a shout out to Dean and Jinit. They have a really uplifting dynamic together and Dean's banter raised my spirits up before I had to go grab a train. I also send my thanks for the enlightened advice from Dean and of course, for my delicious beverage. You really can't beat cafe nero. As for the atmosphere it was cozy, clean and inviting! Highly recommend if you're waiting in the cold, have a sweet tooth and a love of caffeine such as myself.

Wow bad service from the start here. Popped in to do some work and have an espresso. The espresso was served in a dirty cup. I also asked to use the loo and was met was extremely unhelpful staff member who refused to give me the key saying no multiple times for no reason saying she can not find it and it was sitting on the counter. She refused to give me her name, manager was also very rude. Don't go

Café Nero is a great option if you want a reliable coffee shop. The coffee is consistently good, and they have a decent selection of pastries and sandwiches. The atmosphere is usually pretty chill, making it a good spot to hang with friends or get some work done. Plus, the staff is generally friendly and helpful, which makes the experience even better.

Great atmosphere with ample seating in this branch of Café Nero. Many drinks and treats to choose from. Service was unpleasantly slow, but I appreciate that it was a bit busy. There is a toilet for customers which requires a key from the staff. Overall a good place to stop for a nice coffee and great cakes.

I normally don’t like to write any negative and upset ppl however I m writing this due to Poor Asian girl who was work for cafe nero. Morning 4-3-23 at 9:15 am I bought coffee from B’gham station. Not only my experience but ppl who was waiting in long line. One Asian girl on the till dealings with all customer orders. Taking orders and making orders while other woman who more interested to finish her coffee and checking phone, pretending she is the only one doing everything. I would never hire ppl like that. Not sure you guys paying attention or not but out there a lot ppl who will do more respect their job than her. One star only for Asian girl

Went it to buy a drink to be able to use the toilet. 3 hours before close, the toilet wasn't available to use. Apparently, they lost the key.

I ordered a oat latte it tasted like hot water, the milk wasn’t steamed properly and looked liked soap bubbles.

Sorry, this caffè nero has definitely lower standards than others I've been to. Usually the coffee is good here, but our cinnamon lattes were sugary dirty water. Absolutely tasted of nothing. I adore Caffè nero, but here they probably should revise their baristas. Or maybe they were on a lazy mood today. I'm never taking another drink other than espresso here, sorry.

Caffe Nero is a very decent cafe, and although I haven't visited them very much I can always rely on them for a nice coffee. Today I ordered a flat white, and the limited edition 'mystery hot chocolate'. This was being sold as part of the advertising campaign for the new Batman film. I was excited to order it, as it was shown to have a chocolate dusting topping it. The chocolate was in the shape of a question mark. 'What an interesting thing to post as part of my review', I thought. Unfortunately it arrived in a capped paper cup, and upon opening it the foam was plain as can be. Although this left me with some questions, it was but a blemish on a lovely visit to this cafe. Not too crowded, lovely atmosphere and a pretty good cup of coffee 4/5
