What an amazing place to stay, rooms are to a very high standard as train carriages quirky and amazing. Staff are very friendly and the service is second to none. The food here is absolutely amazing, me and my wife had an amazing stay would recommend and we will be back.

We sat in one of the carriages for our meze meal tonight for my birthday treat. The food was fantastic and plentiful! I even had a birthday banner above the table and a sparkler in my dessert. Every dish was delicious, piping hot and a lovely surprise. Our young waiter was great - very friendly and helpful. My partner has to have gluten free food and this was no problem. At some restaurants it's a bit of a faff but not here. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Wish we lived closer than 70 miles away!! Thank you for a memorable evening.

Quirky hotel with rooms in old railway carriages. Superb location near to a park-and-ride for York centre, and to explore North East Yorkshire. Really nice atmosphere, especially if you are into trains in any way. Located right alongside the North East mainline. The staff were all brilliant and service was spot-on. Breakfast was excellent. We didn't have dinner in the restaurant so cannot comment on that. The only slight complaint is that maintenance in the room could be sightly better, mainly electrical stuff that wasn't working.

This was our fourth visit. It's unique as a venue and being right next to the east coast main line is probably not for everyone. However if that's your preference, as it is ours, you really can't go wrong. What stood out on this occasion was the warmest of welcomes from start to finish. Excellent service from the extremely friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant in the converted railway carriage is nostalgic and the quality of food well worth a visit. Thanks Sid and team for a thoroughly enjoyable stay!

This review is about the restaurant only, not the hotel or rooms. I was in two minds about posting this, as the place itself is truly beautiful, with amazing views and very friendly staff. We ordered the mezze for two, which was delicious, and the presentation was immaculate. The team were very accommodating — they even replaced the pork in our dishes with other meats and offered additional complementary items instead. Our waiter, Nathan, was fabulous. However, one thing did put me off slightly. The printed receipt showed a total of £55.20 for our mezze and two soft drinks, but the card machine charged £64.35 without any explanation. I noticed it but chose not to make a fuss and paid anyway. I just wish they had mentioned if a service charge or tip was being added automatically, as it wasn’t shown on the receipt. I would have happily given a £20 tip voluntarily if it had been made clear. Overall, the restaurant is wonderful, the staff are lovely, and they truly deserve the best. I just hope they can be a bit more transparent about the billing next time.

The Hotel consists of a main building and 5 railway carriages which function as bedrooms. We only went for lunch so can't comment on the rooms. It is a beautiful setting however with ample parking. There is a unique interior and situated right by the railway line. Hearty food and a good choice of drinks. Exceptionally clean toilets and disabled access.

Stayed one night in The Silver Jubilee bedroom as a birthday surprise for partner. Very comfortable 4 poster bed at far end of carriage. Super meal that night and lovely breakfast next morning in the dining carriage overlooking the East Coast mainline railway. Overall a superb location with friendly staff, highly recommended. Will be back!

A one night stay to visit a family member. Very quirky.accomodation, warm comfy bed, well heated room.Only criticism is light in shower room not very bright, had a job to see in mirror, could have done with another one in the bedroom. We had an evening meal which was good, breakfast not very hot or generous with portions. Despite that would definitely stay there again.

The Sidings has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, as a rail enthusiast it gives you everything you would want from a break. Rooms are comfy even in the colder months, the food is amazing and at very reasonable prices. The staff are so friendly and really work to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We will be visiting again for sure

Very nice and special hotel. We've been here twice and both times the reception has been wonderful. Breakfast and dinner is also very good. The place looks well maintained and if you're a train enthousiast you will enjoy your stay here even more.
