   Do not go here if you are celiac/ gluten intolerant. The girl behind the bar who served me was not only rude and sullen, but clearly had NO IDEA what gluten free meant. The menu doesnt list gf it is on their ipad( she told me it was on the menu). They do not do gf bread at all so nothing with the soup and no sandwiches. No jacket potatoes - the list goes on. My soup would have fitted into a teacup the bowl was so small! To cap it all she told us a dessert was gf so we ordered it and then the manager came over to tell me not to eat it as it contained gluten. You couldnt write it! Overall an average place with ok food unless you are gf in which case give it a very wide berth. Gave feedback to the manager who was most apologetic but it still ruined my day out. The girl behind the bar needs a damn good talking to on how to be pleasant and polite to customers and those with an allergy that is not their choice( sorry vegans but you choose your diet) she made me feel like a 2nd class citizen.    A fantastic Christmas meal today with friends, and really good value too. Turkey tender, vegetables perfectly cooked, couldn't fault it. The atmosphere was buzzing too, and service from Emma really friendly. We'll be back again next Christmas. Chef and staff, well done!

   A bit of a date night for me and the Mrs — we were really looking forward to it. The place looked great from the outside and just as nice inside. Drinks were on the expensive side, but it matched the overall classy atmosphere of the building. Now, onto the food… I was expecting higher-than-normal standards given the look and busy vibe of the place. Unfortunately, my steak was fatty and undercooked. I know everyone has their own preference, but when I ask for well-done, I expect it to come that way. That alone wouldn’t have made me leave a review, but the chips — yes, the chips — were the real letdown. I’ve honestly had better from my local chippy. How can you undercook chips? It’s a bit embarrassing, really. So, even though the plate looked good, the actual quality of the cooking was well below par. Hence the score of 1. Lesson learned — and we move on

   Came to The Bowling Green on Saturday 12th July 2025 for Lunch. 12:00 table booked. Plenty of car parking at that time. Need to ensure you enter your car registration inside to get free parking. Despite the nice weather, we dined inside, was nice and fresh and temperature was just right. Emma who served us was really nice, welcoming and friendly. We ordered drinks and then the food. The waiting time was ok. Food was plentiful and well presented and most importantly tasted really nice. Highly recommend.

   Great pub, with a friendly team and awesome atmosphere! We popped in for a coffee whilst doing work next to the open fire and couldn't resist a spot of lunch! We will definitely be returning! Great if you want to get out the office and have that homely feel!

   Ordered on user eats and food was amazing, honestly hands down the best burger meal I've had in a while. I also loved the fact that it comes in a card box that has air holes so it doesn't go soggy and that it folds out into a plate! Burger was so tasty and juicy and the frys were crisp and fluffy. Amazing for my first experience from you guys, gonna order and eat here more.

   The Bowling Green both outside and inside immaculately clean. Friendly staff and Manager. Food really nice and atmosphere with 1 x real fire and another fire in dining area. Really homely and relaxing. We will definitely be returning to this pub from Burton on Trent. Excellent service!

   First visit a few weeks ago, we had a good big duo of roasts but had to ask for our puddings after waiting over 20mins after finishing mains (we'd ordered them together on the app for the discount). Overall the food was really good and we were happy. Went again today and were greeted by a sign to say they were on a reduced menu which is fine. Straight away it wasn't as good as last time, the staff were uncomfortably close to us chatting after we'd just sat down by the beautiful open fire. So we moved to another table. This table hadn't been cleaned so we did it ourselves. It also turned out to be very chilly there so we sat with our coats on waiting for food as the radiator next to us was off. We ordered from the app again but just the mains to save the hassle. Waited 30mins (was only 10mins max last time) for 2x duo of roast again (£11.79 each) which barely filled half the plate, it was embarrassing, the waitress couldn't have left quicker after putting the plates down. Last time there was plenty of meat, this time only one slice of turkey and one slice of beef (which was tough this time). There was no mash, pigs in blankets or stuffing which the app says there is and there was last time. Veg was rock hard, inedible. There must have been a gravy ration as well, someone next to us had to ask for more. If we'd known it was only half the meal available, we'd have ordered something else but the app did not say anything, and neither did the staff despite there being several opportunities to (when the order went through, putting the cutlery down, bringing drinks). The staff are neither friendly or unfriendly, very much just getting through the day trying not to talk to anyone other than each other, loudly. The image is the full meal before anything had been eaten, that's the entire pot of gravy on the meal too. Sorry to say after an initial good meal and a majorly disappointing second meal, we won't be visiting again and I suggest you don't either.
