   While shopping yesterday we thought to pop into Cafe Rizzoli for a bit to eat and glass of wine. Cannot say the young lady was full of smiles on asking what we would like to order. We ordered the “ hot ham and cheese “ and 2 glasses of wine. The wine, afraid to say, was cheep and nasty. We sent it back. I swapped for a glass of Prosecco, my daughter a hot chocolate. Feel they were surprised we sent the wine back. The food arrived… for £12.00 per meal, very poor. The presentation was ok, the sandwich, not hot, not tasty, very poor quality ingredients. A huge mistake going there, will never go back, despite the fact I visit Meadowhall often. 1 out of 5

   Food was nice but felt overpriced to say it’s done in a microwave in the back. Staff were very quiet and rude, served us a dirty fork and didn’t apologise when we asked to get it replaced. Waiter who brought our drinks and cutlery dumped them on the table with barely a word and then walked off, hardly any hospitality. Won’t be going back.

   Shown to a seat and then left sitting without any service for over 20 minutes. People who just went and sat down were served before me. Staff are just rude. Mentioned it was really busy. When I asked for the bill was told to pay at the counter despite two tables next to me paying at their table. On a positive the food was really tasty but rude staff and poor service mean I won’t be returning

   We have been visiting Caffe Rizzolli almost every Friday for years. It’s our family tradition after a long week, so I normally look forward to it — but our visit on Friday 5th December was appalling. I arrived exhausted and hungry and ordered a chicken risotto. My husband ordered a salad and our daughter had pasta carbonara. The order was taken by a large male waiter, and a young petite waitress later delivered our meals. When the food arrived, instead of my risotto I was served a chicken Caesar salad — a dish I never ordered. I pointed this out politely. The salad was taken away, and I was told to wait for the correct dish — meanwhile, my family’s meals were sitting there getting cold. I waited around 30 minutes, watching them forced to start eating without me so their food didn’t go to waste. When my risotto finally arrived, it was wrong again — there was no chicken at all, just cucumber, green beans and a tiny piece of pepper at the bottom. I called over another waitress, explained the issue and returned the dish. Shockingly, the café offered no apology, no acknowledgement and made no attempt to correct the situation. My family finished their meals, paid, and we left — and I walked out having been served nothing after waiting half an hour. For a place we have supported regularly, the service we received was unacceptable. This experience was frustrating, disrespectful and extremely disappointing — and it has seriously made us reconsider ever returning.

   The food is great and very good value. The drinks are amazing. The staff are quick and helpful, and you have the option to pay at the till if you don’t want to wait for the bill. They also have an excellent all-day breakfast menu including full cooked and eggs Benedict and Royale (with salmon), but last time I ordered that it took 35 mins to arrive so I don’t recommend it.

   Stopped here in the afternoon for a couple of drinks before our meal and it was lovely, the young man serving us was very professional and polite, it was busy but we didn't have to wait long at all, I would definitely go back and visit again.

   We love Italy and its 'Al Fresco' café culture, so how do you experience this in a shopping centre? Just visit Caffè Rizzoli in the atrium on Park Lane in Meadowhall. Caffè Rizolli is so successful in creating a 'virtual' outdoor atmosphere. Our reviewer had a busy day and stopped for a quick Americano coffee... it was just that... Sherwin the waitress was fast, efficient and very polite in taking our order. In fact the whole team were excellent in serving the coffee very promptly and dealing with the bill when asked. This place is café restaurant with a very interesting menu of light plates and sandwiches. They have with a wonderful selection of desserts on show, and Italian ice cream to go. It is also licensed, a prosecco bar and we very much look forward to returning with some more time on our hands!
