Waited over an hour for our food, we only ordered nachos and Yorkshire chips. Someone obviously forgot to send our order through . The two young men looked thoroughly fed up although they were polite to the customers. There were no Christmas decorations to be seen so atmosphere whatsoever. Decorations didnt really encourage us to go back

Went with the family on 7th December for a Sunday roast and had a great time. We were seated upstairs and were greeted by a lovely bartender and he was very accommodating and knowledgeable of the drinks on offer. We ordered our food at the bar and when it arrived it looked delicious and tasted great too. I had the pork roast as they had ran out of chicken (we were a late seating just half an hour before kitchen close) and the pork was delicious. The environment was lovely and nice and warm inside. All in it was about £85 for 4 meals, 1 side and a drink each which we thought was very reasonable. Will definitely be back again.

The perfect place for a Sunday roast. Great staff, good selection of local ales and truly wonderful food (I highly recommend the beef, and the Yorkshire puddings are fantastic). The pub has a great look and feel to it, with lots of classic and traditional fixtures and fittings.

New to the area and had gone by on the bus a couple times, the beer garden always looked so inviting. So we booked in a Sunday roast - can do online or over the phone. Were originally booked in around 4, but were in the area earlier and decided to pop in and see if we could eat 2 hours earlier (annoying I know but we just wanted to see if there was space on the off chance). They were super understanding and accommodating. The food was amazing, came quickly and tasted amazing! The portions were huge!!! The staff were so lovely and attentive. Honestly couldn’t ask for more. After an amazing roast we had one more drink outside in the beer garden which was clean, beautifully put together and there were quite a few friendly dogs out there too, which is always lovely. Will be back!

Great pub with a nice selection of beer. Food is delicious and well priced, with decent portions. Their Sunday lunchs are top tier, though you do need to book in for Sundays in advance as they don't take walk ins. Last time I was in the river banks were being reinforced so no beer garden, but it used to be nice to sit out on a Summer's day next to the river.

13/11/2022 - Although the pub itself is lovely and the staff are very friendly, my low rating is for the disappointing Sunday lunch. The portion size was way too small and was covered in too much gravy (probably to hide the lack of food). Undercooked veg however, the one piece of carrot was nice. The beef was tough as leather and the wait for service was way too long and annoying as people ordering the same meal after us being served before us. It is a shame really as the last time we visited it was good, but that was a couple of years ago..Don't think I will be back again.

Don't come here for Sunday Carvery! Very bland, 2 small roast potatoes and sage and onion portion the size of a cherry... kids portion almost as big as the adults meal. Adults carvery £14.50 child's portion £8.95 Excellent choices of real ale. Come here for a drink but forget coming here for good food. In addition my partner ordered vegan meal and was disappointed it was just cauliflower not a nut roast or some other meat substitute. £12 for a plate of vegetables is a bit steep.
